📋 Description

• Design, write, and ship production-grade code to resolve bugs, enhance performance, and increase reliability across critical services in a high-traffic, real-time identity verification system.
• Debug complex production issues spanning backend code, database interactions, and infrastructure layers, implementing code-level fixes to restore service integrity and prevent recurrence.
• Profile APIs and services under load to identify performance bottlenecks at the code, database, or configuration level, and deploy targeted optimizations to improve latency and throughput.
• Design and evaluate infrastructure solutions, weighing tradeoffs in architecture, tooling, and system configuration while documenting rationale for engineering decisions.
• Build automation tools, test frameworks, and simulation systems to model traffic patterns, validate system behavior under stress, and prevent regressions in high-availability services.
• Enhance observability by contributing to logs, metrics, dashboards, alerts, and distributed tracing systems to improve visibility into system health and behavior.
• Collaborate with US-based engineering teams during late evening IST hours to coordinate incident response, design reviews, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Define, measure, and align SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs with business outcomes to ensure reliability targets support customer trust and operational goals.
• Contribute to incident response runbooks and participate in the engineering on-call rotation to respond to production incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and drive preventive improvements.
• Improve operational excellence by optimizing system costs through infrastructure tuning, resource allocation analysis, and efficiency-focused engineering practices.
• Research and evaluate emerging monitoring technologies, observability platforms, and SRE best practices to continuously elevate system reliability and visibility.
• Collaborate closely with backend and product engineering teams to address performance bottlenecks, resolve systemic issues, and implement scalable solutions.
• Communicate technical context clearly through structured updates, postmortems, and async documentation, ensuring alignment across distributed engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
• Work across unfamiliar codebases to diagnose and resolve issues from application logic to underlying infrastructure components.
• Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to break down ambiguous production challenges into actionable tasks, track progress against milestones, and proactively surface blockers.
• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Terraform or Terragrunt to manage and automate cloud resource provisioning.
• Support cost-efficiency initiatives by identifying underutilized resources, optimizing service scaling, and recommending configuration changes to reduce cloud expenditure.
• Maintain a focus on reliability, scalability, and operational resilience across systems that verify hundreds of millions of identities in real time.

🎯 Requirements

• 7–8+ years of software development experience, with meaningful time in backend or SRE/infrastructure-adjacent roles
• Strong coding skills in languages such as Python, Go, or similar
• Proven ability to write and ship production code and debug it under real-world conditions
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, including performance tuning and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, containers (Docker), and Kubernetes in production
• Experience with observability and monitoring platforms like Datadog, CloudWatch, or Prometheus
