• • As a Senior Software Engineer on the Statistical Evaluation and Sampling team at Waymo, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the Waymo Driver before it operates on public roads. Your work will directly impact the development of autonomous driving technology by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of safety evaluation pipelines.
• • Day to day, you will develop importance sampling techniques to enhance signal detection in simulation and real-world logs, build systems that optimize multiple objectives under resource constraints, analyze large-scale datasets to identify rare and critical events, collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists and statisticians, and maintain high standards of code quality and best practices in a complex, multi-language codebase.
• • You will join Waymo’s Release Evaluation organization, a mission-driven team focused on solving the long tail of rare and challenging scenarios in autonomous driving through automated pipelines and statistical innovation.
