- • Lead architecture reviews, workshops, and technical design sessions with engineering teams and executive stakeholders to design data orchestration platforms on Astro, powered by Apache Airflow®.
- • Design end-to-end platform architectures that integrate Apache Airflow with cloud infrastructure, compute frameworks, and data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- • Review delivery work to ensure adherence to high standards for scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence in production deployments.
- • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues during customer deployments, migrations, and platform modernization initiatives.
- • Build reusable tools, frameworks, reference architectures, and documented best practices to improve delivery quality across Astronomer’s Professional Services team.
- • Serve as the senior technical lead for customer engagements within the Delivery Architecture team, working directly with engineering leaders and executive stakeholders.
- • Support delivery teams through complex implementations by providing hands-on technical guidance, including building prototypes to validate architectural designs.
- • Apply deep expertise in Apache Airflow in large-scale production environments to guide customers in optimizing their data orchestration workflows.
- • Design cloud-native data architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP, incorporating enterprise cloud networking and security patterns.
- • Leverage strong Python and SQL skills to develop and validate technical solutions during customer engagements.
- • Utilize familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, Docker, and Kubernetes to ensure automated, reliable, and scalable deployments.
- • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences through documentation, mentoring, and stakeholder presentations.
- • Participate in occasional travel for conferences and team on-sites, though customer engagements are primarily remote.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or platform architecture in production environments
- • Strong Python and SQL skills
- • Deep experience designing and operating Apache Airflow in large-scale production deployments
- • Experience designing cloud-native data architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- • Familiarity with enterprise cloud networking and security patterns
- • Experience leading technical engagements and working with executive stakeholders
