- • Lead architecture reviews, workshops, and technical design sessions with engineering teams and executive stakeholders to design data orchestration platforms on Astro, Astronomer’s unified DataOps platform powered by Apache Airflow®.
- • Design end-to-end platform architectures that integrate Apache Airflow with cloud infrastructure, compute frameworks, and data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- • Review delivery work to ensure adherence to high standards for scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence in production deployments.
- • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues during customer deployments, migrations, and platform modernization initiatives.
- • Build reusable tools, frameworks, reference architectures, and documented best practices to improve delivery quality and consistency across the Professional Services team.
- • Guide customers through the full lifecycle of platform implementation, from initial design to production rollout, managing scope, timelines, and stakeholder alignment.
- • Author and deploy production-grade Airflow DAGs, monitor execution, troubleshoot failures, and optimize performance through code refactoring and infrastructure right-sizing.
- • Implement data quality checks, alerts, and monitoring systems to ensure reliability and integrity of data pipelines.
- • Apply expertise in cloud-native data platforms, including enterprise networking, security, and identity patterns across major cloud providers.
- • Collaborate with delivery teams to unblock technical challenges and provide hands-on technical support during critical implementation phases.
- • Translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready technical architectures with clear documentation and stakeholder communication.
- • Leverage programming skills in Python and SQL to prototype solutions, automate tasks, and validate architectural designs.
- • Utilize Infrastructure as Code, Docker, and Kubernetes to automate and standardize deployment environments.
- • Apply experience with data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, or Redshift to design integrated data ecosystems.
- • Participate in occasional travel for customer on-sites, conferences, and team gatherings, though engagements are primarily remote.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or solution architecture
- • Expertise in Apache Airflow, including authoring, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting production DAGs
- • Proven experience designing cloud-native data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP with enterprise security and networking knowledge
- • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
- • Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Docker, and Kubernetes
- • Track record guiding customers through platform deployments, migrations, or technical transformations
