  • • As a Senior Solutions Engineer at Okta, you will be a pivotal member of the Global Presales organization, acting as a trusted advisor to customers and partners. Your primary role will be to leverage your deep technical expertise and strategic business insight to help organizations unlock the full potential of Okta’s Identity Platform, specifically focusing on Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solutions.
  • • You will engage in strategic customer conversations, aligning with technical and engineering leaders to address their most pressing identity challenges. This involves staying abreast of emerging trends, industry best practices, and the evolving landscape of identity-driven digital transformation.
  • • A key responsibility is to assist in preparing executive-level messaging and participating in strategic discussions, ensuring Okta’s solutions are clearly communicated and aligned with customer business outcomes. You will develop customer-centric viewpoints that effectively translate Okta’s capabilities into tangible solutions for their specific problems.
  • • You will lead in-depth technical Q&A discovery sessions with prospective customers to thoroughly understand their business requirements. This understanding will be crucial in articulating the value proposition of Okta’s CIAM solutions in addressing these needs.
  • • The role demands the delivery of compelling, interactive presentations and customized product demonstrations. This includes designing, building, and executing well-defined, outcome-focused Proofs of Concept (POCs) to demonstrate the practical application and benefits of Okta’s offerings.
  • • Maintaining a broad and deep technical understanding of Okta’s customer identity product lines, including the underlying technologies and protocols, is essential. This knowledge will enable you to confidently address complex technical inquiries and provide expert guidance.
  • • You will craft engaging solution content that effectively positions Okta’s value proposition across various business units, including software engineering, operations, product management, and other key business stakeholders. This requires a nuanced understanding of different departmental needs and priorities.
  • • As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you will provide strategic and technical guidance to other Solutions Engineering teams, supporting both the Okta and Auth0 identity platforms. This mentorship and leadership aspect is crucial for team development and consistent delivery.
  • • You will collaborate closely with the Global Office of the Field CTO team, providing actionable insights gathered from the field. This feedback loop is vital for validating customer needs and identifying recurring trends that can inform product development and strategy for Okta’s Product & Engineering teams.
  • • You will have opportunities to deliver impactful keynote presentations, webinars, and technical sessions at industry events and customer conferences, further establishing Okta’s thought leadership.
  • • Contributing to the development of frameworks, tools, and content that empower Solutions Engineering teams to execute more effectively is a key aspect of this role. You will help build the resources that drive team success.
  • • You will partner with sales leadership to identify and address critical business opportunities and challenges, working collaboratively to achieve sales targets and expand Okta’s market presence.
  • • Driving cross-functional collaboration to ensure the seamless execution of global initiatives will be essential, requiring strong interpersonal and project management skills.
  • • You will be encouraged to innovate in tools and techniques to drive excellence and maintain momentum within the Solutions Engineering function.
  • • Partnering with Enablement and Field CTO teams to drive regional events and align product messaging for regional Go-To-Market (GTM) and SE teams will be part of your responsibilities.
  • • Representing Okta as a thought leader in the identity and security space, and potentially influencing industry standards and participating in relevant technical advisory boards, will allow you to shape the future of identity management.
  • • You will partner closely with OFCTO teams as an advocate for customer-driven innovation, market trends, and GTM insights, providing crucial input to influence product roadmaps.
  • • Supporting, deriving, and championing strategic initiatives that enhance Okta’s differentiation and overall business impact will be a core part of your contribution.
  • • This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a passion for technology, and a commitment to customer success, making you an indispensable asset to the sales and engineering teams.
  • • You will be expected to travel up to 40% for customer meetings, industry events, and internal off-sites, and must be based in the USA as a US citizen.
  • • An in-person onboarding session will be required at the start of your tenure.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 8+ years of experience in a presales or customer-facing technical role, with a minimum of 3 years specifically focused on Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) projects.
  • • 8+ years of development experience, with a strong preference for experience in application integration with identity services.
  • • 8+ years of hands-on experience working with REST APIs and SDKs.
  • • Proven experience with customer identity and access management solutions, such as Okta or Auth0.
  • • Solid understanding and experience with authentication and authorization protocols including OAuth, OIDC, and SAML.
  • • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical ideas and solutions effectively, utilizing whiteboarding, practical examples, and product demonstrations.
  • • Ability to operate effectively within a matrixed organization and manage cross-functional initiatives.
