📋 Description

• Lead the independent testing of business process SOX controls for revenue, financial close, and treasury at Kraken, a global crypto exchange, ensuring controls are designed and operating effectively to support audit committee, external auditors, and regulators.
• Build and maintain SOX testing programs from the ground up, including workpapers, templates, and AI-enabled workflows, while validating remediation of control deficiencies and tracking issue resolution across multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional structures.
• Join Kraken’s Integrated Assurance team within Risk & Audit, partnering with finance, accounting, treasury, IT SOX testers, and co-sourced providers to deliver coordinated, technology-forward assurance in a rapidly evolving crypto financial landscape.
• Develop deep expertise in SOX compliance for digital asset businesses, including revenue recognition for trading, staking, and custody, while advancing skills in AI-assisted audit tools, global regulatory environments, and enterprise risk management in a mission-driven, fully remote organization.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in internal audit, external audit, or SOX compliance with significant exposure to business process controls testing
• CPA certification required
• Experience in crypto, fintech, payments, or digital asset accounting — including revenue recognition for trading, staking, or custody services
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX compliance requirements, COSO framework, and PCAOB auditing standards as they apply to business process controls
• Hands-on experience testing controls across revenue, financial close, treasury, or other core financial reporting processes
• Experience operating across multi-entity structures or multiple jurisdictions
