- • Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer leading Reddit’s next-generation user understanding initiative to build a unified, high-fidelity representation of each user that powers personalization across the platform.
- • Design user understanding strategy, build foundational user models, reimagine user understanding with LLMs/Gen-AI, ship large-scale user understanding systems, drive cross-team integration and impact, and set technical bar through mentorship and design reviews.
- • Reddit is a community of communities with 100,000+ active communities and approximately 126 million daily active unique visitors, serving as one of the internet’s largest sources of information built on shared interests, passion, and trust.

🎯 Requirements
- • At least 10 years experience building and scaling production-grade ML systems, particularly in user modeling, large-scale representation learning, or recommender systems
- • Track record of driving ambiguous, high-impact initiatives from concept to production, shaping both technical direction and execution
- • Product- and impact-oriented mindset focused on moving real metrics (engagement, retention, revenue), not just model quality
- • Strong fundamentals in mainstream user understanding ML approaches (representation learning, behavioral modeling, user clustering) and understanding their trade-offs in real-world systems
- • Excitement about the GenAI shift with experience or strong intuition applying LLMs or foundation models to evolve existing systems beyond incremental improvements
- • Systems thinking: considering data, training, evaluation, serving, and adoption as a cohesive whole with end-to-end impact in mind
- • Ability to influence beyond immediate team by partnering effectively with product, infra, and other ML teams to drive alignment across multiple stakeholders
- • Experience raising the technical bar through mentoring senior engineers, leading design reviews, and establishing best practices for reliable, scalable ML systems
- • Comfort navigating trade-offs across quality, latency, cost, and safety in large-scale, user-facing systems
