- • As a Senior Staff Rust Developer at Zscaler, you will play a critical role in advancing the company’s mission to secure the AI age by building and enhancing the Zscaler Client Connector—a core component of the world’s largest cloud-native Zero Trust Exchange platform. Your work will directly impact how corporate devices securely and privately connect to Zscaler’s global network, enabling advanced web filtering and Zero Trust policy enforcement for customers worldwide.
- • You will develop high-performance networking code for multiple desktop platforms using Rust and platform-native APIs, ensuring low-latency, secure, and reliable communication between endpoints and Zscaler’s security cloud. This includes implementing and optimizing protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, QUIC, HTTP/3, and proxy handling, while maintaining strict adherence to security best practices.
- • You will improve code quality by building solid, testable, and well-documented software foundations, advocating for clean architecture, modular design, and comprehensive unit and integration testing to reduce technical debt and increase long-term maintainability.
- • You will design and implement major development projects focused on scalability, security, and performance, leading technical discussions and driving architectural decisions that support Zscaler’s growth and evolving threat landscape.
- • You will collaborate closely with product managers, security researchers, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate customer needs into impactful features, participating in agile ceremonies and contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and demo sessions.
- • You will debug and solve complex network-related problems across diverse operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), leveraging deep system-level knowledge to diagnose issues in virtual memory, multi-threading, firewall interactions, and kernel-mode behaviors.
- • You will act as a technical leader and mentor within the Zscaler Client Connector team, fostering a culture of ownership, constructive debate, and continuous learning by sharing knowledge, reviewing code, and guiding junior engineers.
- • You will thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous environment where you are expected to build the path as you walk it—turning abstract challenges into concrete, secure, and scalable solutions that protect enterprises in real time.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- • 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years of professional Rust programming
- • Strong knowledge of system and network programming including firewalls, VPNs, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, QUIC, HTTP/3, and proxies
- • Familiarity with system concepts such as virtual memory, multi-threading, and system APIs
- • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills in networking and system-level contexts
