- ⢠Own the technical vision and architecture for EarnInâs next-generation earned-wage-access platform, serving millions of hourly workers who rely on instant access to their pay to cover lifeâs necessities. You will set the long-term technical direction, balance speed with scalability, and ensure our systems can 10Ă in volume without missing a beat.
- ⢠Lead a distributed engineering organization of 50+ engineers across product, platform, data, and mobile squads. You will mentor staff and principal engineers, drive technical design reviews, and create a culture where high-impact decisions are made collaboratively and documented transparently.
- ⢠Architect and deliver critical green-field initiativesâsuch as real-time payroll integrations, AI-driven cash-flow predictions, and next-gen risk enginesâthat directly determine whether a member can pay rent on time or avoid an overdraft fee. Your code and designs will touch every transaction, every dollar, and every moment of financial relief we provide.
- ⢠Champion reliability and security at scale. You will define SLAs/SLOs that protect member trust, lead blameless post-mortems, and implement chaos-engineering practices so our platform stays resilient when traffic spikes 300 % on payday.
- ⢠Drive cross-functional alignment with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Member Success to translate ambiguous business goals into clear technical roadmaps. Youâll present architectural trade-offs to executives, quantify engineering ROI, and secure buy-in for multi-quarter investments.
- ⢠Establish and evolve engineering standardsâcoding guidelines, testing strategies, continuous-deployment pipelines, and observability frameworksâensuring every team ships with confidence and every service is observable within five minutes of an incident.
- ⢠Be the voice of the hourly worker in technical decisions. You will regularly shadow Member Support, review user feedback, and run âpayday simulationsâ to ensure our edge cases (split shifts, tip income, gig work) are handled with empathy and precision.
- ⢠Contribute to open-source projects and publish technical blogs that position EarnIn as a thought leader in fintech infrastructure, real-time payments, and ethical AI for financial health.
- ⢠Influence the broader engineering hiring strategyâdefine bar-raising interview loops, create onboarding bootcamps, and personally close senior candidates who will shape the next chapter of EarnInâs growth.
- ⢠Measure what matters: instrument systems to capture cost-per-transaction, fraud-loss rates, and member NPS; use these metrics to prioritize refactor vs. feature work and to celebrate wins that improve a memberâs financial life.
đŻ Requirements
- ⢠12+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 in an architect or staff+ role building high-scale, consumer-facing platforms (10âś+ users, 10âˇ+ daily transactions).
- ⢠Expert-level fluency in one or more of: Kotlin/Java, Go, TypeScript/Node, or Python, plus deep experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and event-driven microservices.
- ⢠Proven track record designing zero-downtime migrations of critical financial data and achieving PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or equivalent compliance standards.
- ⢠Demonstrated ability to lead distributed teams, drive technical strategy, and mentor senior engineers across multiple time zones.
- ⢠Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with real-time payment rails (ACH, RTP, FedNow), machine-learning risk models, or mobile-first financial products.
