- • We are a dynamic, cross-functional organization that fosters a collaborative environment, encouraging learning, development, and engagement across all levels.
- • If you thrive in a hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work setting, and are passionate about building the future of aerospace technology, CesiumAstro offers an unparalleled opportunity.
- • We are actively seeking energetic, forward-thinking individuals who are eager to contribute to our mission of delivering innovative solutions.
- • As a Senior Structural Analyst I, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity, performance, and reliability of Cesium's advanced products designed for demanding ground, airborne, and space applications.
- • This role offers the unique chance to work within a fast-paced startup environment, contributing directly to the development of leading-edge hardware that will define the next generation of space and aerospace systems.
- • You will collaborate closely with diverse, cross-functional teams, including design engineers, systems engineers, manufacturing, and testing personnel, to integrate structural analysis considerations throughout the product development lifecycle.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of structural analysis tasks, from initial concept design through to final product validation and flight qualification.
- • Conduct detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using industry-standard software to predict the behavior of structures under various static, dynamic, and thermal loads.
- • Perform modal analysis to understand the natural frequencies and mode shapes of components and assemblies, crucial for avoiding resonance in dynamic environments.
- • Execute transient and random vibration analysis to simulate the extreme conditions experienced during launch and operation, ensuring product survivability.
- • Analyze thermal-structural interactions, evaluating the effects of temperature gradients and extreme thermal environments on structural performance and material properties.
- • Perform stress, strain, and deflection analysis to ensure components remain within acceptable limits, preventing failure and ensuring long-term reliability.
- • Validate analytical models through correlation with test data, identifying discrepancies and refining models for improved accuracy.
- • Develop and execute test plans for structural and vibration testing, including defining test setups, instrumentation, and data acquisition requirements.
- • Interpret test results, compare them with analytical predictions, and provide clear, concise reports on findings and recommendations.
- • Contribute to the design process by providing timely and actionable feedback to design engineers, suggesting modifications to improve structural robustness, reduce weight, and enhance manufacturability.
- • Participate in design reviews, presenting analysis results and defending design choices to internal teams and potentially external stakeholders.
- • Develop and maintain documentation for analysis procedures, methodologies, and results, ensuring traceability and knowledge sharing.
- • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural analysis techniques, software tools, and aerospace industry best practices, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.
- • Contribute to the development of internal standards, processes, and best practices for structural analysis within the organization.
- • Support the resolution of structural issues that may arise during development, testing, or flight operations, providing rapid and effective analytical solutions.
- • Work with materials engineers to understand material properties, failure criteria, and their impact on structural performance in space environments.
- • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as NASA, DoD, and commercial space standards, as applicable to the product's intended mission.
- • This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
- • The initial phase of this role will be remote, offering flexibility, with a planned transition to in-person work once our Melbourne, Florida office is fully established, providing an opportunity to be part of building a new operational hub.
- • Be a key contributor to the success of groundbreaking space missions by ensuring the structural integrity of critical hardware.
- • This position is subject to U.S. Government export control regulations. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, or refugees, or otherwise eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or Ph.D. is a plus.
- • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural analysis, with a strong focus on aerospace or defense applications.
- • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus) and a solid understanding of FEA principles.
- • Experience with dynamic analysis, including modal, vibration (sine and random), and shock analysis.
- • Familiarity with thermal-structural analysis and its application in aerospace environments.
- • Understanding of material properties, failure modes, and fatigue analysis relevant to aerospace structures.
- • Ability to interpret and apply relevant industry standards (e.g., NASA, MIL-STD).
- • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information.
- • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required due to export control regulations.
