  • • Define, manage, and maintain the system-level requirements baseline with full traceability from design inputs to subsystem specifications and test evidence for a non-invasive neuromonitoring device.
  • • Own system-level architecture documentation, capturing interfaces, design choices, and performance allocations across hardware, software, and optical subsystems.
  • • Drive system integration activities by defining integration sequences, resolving cross-subsystem interface conflicts, and ensuring all interfaces are correctly specified and verified.
  • • Lead verification and validation (V&V) planning and execution at the system level, coordinating with subsystem teams to ensure complete test coverage and regulatory-compliant evidence generation.
  • • Support design risk management activities in accordance with ISO 14971, including conducting system-level hazard analysis, FMEA, and verifying risk controls.
  • • Maintain and evolve systems engineering processes and tooling, including requirements management platforms, design review structures, and traceability practices.
  • • Represent the system architecture in cross-functional forums, supporting regulatory submissions and maintaining the design history file for compliance.
  • • Collaborate closely with product management, hardware, software, optical, and regulatory teams to ensure the system performs as intended in its clinical use environment.
  • • Work directly with the Product Risk Manager to integrate risk management activities into system design and integration workflows.
  • • Embrace AI as a core part of daily work, using it to enhance collaboration, innovation, and efficiency across engineering tasks.
  • • Ensure all system-level activities align with medical device regulatory standards including IEC 60601-1, ISO 13485, and design control processes.
  • • Generate and review test protocols and reports to meet regulatory standards for medical device approval.
  • • Communicate complex system-level decisions clearly to clinical, regulatory, and executive stakeholders through written and verbal means.
  • • Work at least four days per week in the office at either the London (Kings Cross) or Bristol location, with one flexible remote day per week.
  • • Contribute to the development of systems engineering practices that support the commercialization of a novel neuromonitoring technology aimed at improving brain disorder diagnosis and treatment.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering with ownership of requirements management and system integration on complex, multi-domain products
  • • Experience with medical devices or regulated industries, including working knowledge of IEC 60601-1, ISO 14971, ISO 13485, and design control processes
  • • Proficiency with requirements management tooling (DOORS, Jama, Polarion, or similar) and familiarity with model-based systems engineering approaches
  • • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve cross-subsystem interface conflicts in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
  • • Experience supporting V&V planning and execution at the system level, including generating and reviewing test protocols and reports to regulatory standards
  • • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex system-level decisions for clinical, regulatory, and executive stakeholders
