  • • Join Back Market's Bureau of Technology (BoT) as a Senior Technical Program Manager II and become a pivotal force in our mission to revolutionize the tech industry by championing refurbished devices. In a global marketplace dedicated to making technology reliable, affordable, and environmentally superior to new, you will be instrumental in driving change and challenging the conventional "buy new" mindset. Our 300-strong BoT is a dynamic environment where engineering innovation meets a rebellious spirit, dedicated to transforming consumer perceptions of refurbished technology and significantly reducing our collective environmental impact.
  • • As a Senior Technical Program Manager II, you will serve as the essential connective tissue, bridging the gap between our Engineering, Product, and Business teams. Your primary responsibility will be to translate ambitious strategic visions into tangible, delivered realities. This role transcends mere timeline management in spreadsheets; it demands a proactive, force-multiplier approach from an individual who thrives in ambiguity, consistently challenges the status quo, and possesses a proven ability to drive high-impact programs across multiple organizational tribes.
  • • Your mission is to orchestrate our most game-changing technical programs, ensuring seamless alignment, unhindered progress, and accelerated momentum across all involved parties. The impact of your work will extend across numerous tribes, directly contributing to Back Market's accelerated growth in key markets across the EU, US, and APAC regions. You will be a key player in scaling our operations and solidifying our position as a leader in the sustainable tech movement.
  • • Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional technical programs from their initial concept through to successful delivery. This involves meticulously managing and nurturing relationships across the BoT, Product, and Business departments, fostering collaboration and ensuring clear communication channels are maintained. You will partner closely with various teams to meticulously define execution strategies and develop roadmaps that are firmly anchored in shared, overarching goals. In doing so, you will establish yourself as the single, trusted point of accountability for each program you oversee, ensuring clarity and ownership.
  • • A critical aspect of your role will be to proactively identify and remove impediments that hinder progress, driving essential process improvements, and ensuring the timely delivery of program milestones. You will champion an environment of iterative development and continuous improvement, encouraging teams to adapt and refine their approaches throughout the program lifecycle. This includes optimizing resource allocation, carefully balancing competing business needs against inherent technical constraints, and providing robust escalation management when critical issues arise that require senior attention.
  • • You will be responsible for identifying potential risks and dependencies that span across multiple teams, developing comprehensive mitigation strategies to ensure the successful and smooth delivery of all programs. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in up-skilling the broader tech organization in best-practice program management methodologies. This includes establishing clear, measurable engineering Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and fostering a culture of accountability throughout the engineering teams, ensuring that performance is tracked and understood.
  • • Examples of the impactful programs you might lead include the modernization of our core technology stack to enhance scalability and efficiency, the creation of innovative and engaging new purchasing experiences for refurbished devices to attract and retain customers, driving the strategic adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across various company functions to unlock new capabilities, enabling seamless multi-language market support to expand our global reach, and spearheading other high-impact initiatives that align with Back Market's strategic objectives and growth trajectory. Your leadership will be essential in shaping the future of our technology and our business.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or technical program management, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
  • • Proven track record of successfully leading complex, transversal initiatives from inception through to delivery, involving multiple cross-functional teams.
  • • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to act as a facilitator and build strong relationships across all organizational levels.
  • • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to data-driven decision-making.
  • • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, exhibiting critical thinking and thought leadership in program execution.
  • • Proven ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority, particularly at senior levels both within and outside the engineering organization.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary and stock options package.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • • Generous paid time off and holidays.
  • • Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
  • • A vibrant and inclusive company culture with a strong sense of purpose.
  • • The chance to make a significant environmental impact through your work.
