  • • Spearhead the application of cutting-edge genomic data to revolutionize healthcare by partnering with leading clinicians, innovative product managers, and influential key opinion leaders (KOLs) as a Senior Translational Medical Scientist within Natera's Oncology department.
  • • Drive the development of groundbreaking products specifically aimed at early cancer detection, a critical area for improving patient outcomes and survival rates.
  • • Contribute significantly to ongoing translational initiatives, focusing on the optimization of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) testing methodologies to enhance accuracy, inform clinical decision-making, and ultimately improve the prognosis for patients battling both solid and hematological malignancies.
  • • Embrace a dynamic, cross-functional role that necessitates extensive collaboration with a diverse range of internal stakeholders, including R&D, clinical teams, and product development, as well as external strategic research partners, pioneering biotechnology companies, and major pharmaceutical organizations.
  • • Integrate complex genomic and clinical data across multiple high-impact projects, navigating a fast-paced and evolving scientific landscape.

  • • Collaborate closely with R&D, clinicians, product managers, and KOLs to meticulously identify and secure high-quality specimen biobanks essential for the robust development and validation of next-generation early cancer detection assays.
  • • Apply a profound understanding of oncology, molecular biology, and genomics to rigorously evaluate both commercial and research opportunities, identifying pathways for novel diagnostic advancements.
  • • Foster a collaborative environment by working hand-in-hand with molecular biologists, computational biologists, and statisticians to architect sophisticated research strategies designed to overcome complex scientific challenges and accelerate discovery.
  • • Conduct in-depth genomic analyses to explore fundamental biological, scientific, and clinical questions within oncology, with a clear mandate to translate research findings into tangible improvements in patient care and treatment efficacy.
  • • Lead and champion internal efforts focused on oncology knowledge management and data curation, ensuring that Natera maintains a comprehensive and accessible repository of scientific intelligence.
  • • Cultivate and manage relationships with external partners, including esteemed academic KOLs, innovative biotechnology firms, and leading pharmaceutical companies, to foster synergistic research and development initiatives.
  • • Effectively communicate complex analytical results and scientific findings to academic researchers, actively collaborating on the publication of groundbreaking discoveries in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, thereby enhancing Natera's scientific reputation and influence.
  • • Provide essential oversight and mentorship to junior scientists and research associates, fostering their professional growth and ensuring the highest standards of scientific execution.
  • • Offer critical support to the regulatory affairs team by providing expert assistance in responding to inquiries from regulatory agencies (such as CLIA, CAP, and FDA) concerning product design, validation methodologies, and performance characteristics.
  • • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to supporting Natera's overarching mission and strategic goals.
  • • Regularly handle Protected Health Information (PHI) in both paper and electronic formats, utilizing various technologies to access and manage this sensitive data in strict accordance with privacy regulations.
  • • Complete all mandatory training related to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance, and security protocols promptly, within the first 30 days of employment, and maintain current status on all Natera training requirements throughout your tenure.
  • • This role is pivotal in advancing the frontier of cancer diagnostics, requiring a blend of deep scientific expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional collaborative skills to drive innovation from bench to bedside.
