  • • As a Senior Validation Reviewer at Guidehouse Inc., you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Army's audit readiness and sustainability by providing expert support in Environmental and Disposal Liabilities (E&DL). This position is crucial for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and auditability of financial data related to environmental remediation and disposal costs.
  • • Your primary responsibility will involve executing the Validation Review of Cost-to-Complete (CTC) E&DL estimates across the Army. This entails a thorough examination of the methodologies used to generate these estimates, ensuring they align with audit requirements and result in an audit-ready CTC package within the designated E&DL financial system of record.
  • • You will be instrumental in assisting with E&DL financial reporting data calls, performing detailed year-over-year Material Change analysis to identify and explain significant fluctuations in environmental liabilities.
  • • A key aspect of this role is the ability to interpret and effectively communicate complex E&DL guidance and policy documents to client personnel. You will review these documents to ensure adherence to established accounting and auditing principles, acting as a subject matter expert.
  • • You will apply fundamental audit principles to the unique concepts, processes, practices, and procedures associated with E&DL, translating theoretical knowledge into practical application.
  • • A significant part of your contribution will be developing corrective actions and identifying best practices to resolve audit findings related to E&DL, thereby improving the overall financial management of these liabilities.
  • • You will assist with various financial analysis tasks, including data calls, variance analysis, standard disclosure preparation, and other financial assessments, utilizing data from source systems, estimates, and other relevant sources.
  • • Furthermore, you will support comparative analysis and justification of fiscal year requirements and environmental cost estimates. This ensures the accuracy and integrity of budget justifications and other critical environmental data submissions.
  • • You will contribute to the development of comprehensive deliverables, including performance metrics reporting, impactful presentations, and relevant training materials, sharing your expertise with the team and client.
  • • Leveraging your understanding of Army E&DL processes and current audit and accounting requirements, you will inform and guide the development of effective corrective actions.
  • • You will provide essential audit liaison and support services. This includes facilitating and supporting the preparation of Prepared by Client (PBC) responses, supporting the review of audit findings, assisting in the development and execution of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), and serving as a key liaison with audit coaches and the external financial statement auditor.
  • • Your role will involve evaluating the "as-is" business processes and internal control activities, developing innovative solutions for enhancing control activities, and actively supporting the implementation of these corrective actions.
  • • You will contribute to the development and maintenance of crucial work products such as job aids, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), associated templates, and other supporting documentation for business process controls, ensuring consistency and clarity.
  • • You will be responsible for owning and maintaining relationships with key client personnel, fostering open communication to deepen your understanding of their business operations, processes, and functions.
  • • You will effectively report status updates to engagement team management, demonstrating a high level of ownership and accountability for your assigned task areas and work products. Additionally, you will coach and mentor junior team members, guiding them in the execution of their responsibilities.
