📋 Description

• As a Senior Web Engineer at Kong Inc., you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining the core web applications that power Kong’s Marketing presence, directly contributing to the evolution of www.konghq.com by building scalable page templates, reusable components, and ensuring a high-quality, seamless user experience for global audiences.
• You will take ownership of Kong’s CMS architecture and infrastructure, leading improvements to the PayloadCMS implementation while supporting performance, reliability, and scalability across the web platform, with your work extending to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, accessibility standards, and deployment processes in a distributed team environment.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will include building and maintaining web pages and reusable component templates using Next.js, TypeScript, and modern CSS, architecting and enhancing CMS integrations including content modeling and scalable PayloadCMS structures, and optimizing website performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.
• You will develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions), streamline deployment workflows, contribute to infrastructure and hosting strategies to ensure CMS and back-end systems effectively support front-end performance, and partner with designers and back-end engineers to deliver cohesive, full-stack solutions.
• You will diagnose and resolve production issues using observability and monitoring tools, improve and enforce code quality through automated testing (unit, integration, functional, and visual testing) and thorough documentation, participate in architectural planning emphasizing scalability and reusability, and mentor junior engineers on front-end best practices and CMS integration patterns.
• You will join a team of engineers, designers, and marketing stakeholders at Kong Inc., a leader in API and AI connectivity technologies trusted by the Fortune 500 and startups, working on Kong Konnect—the unified API and AI platform that enables organizations to secure, manage, accelerate, govern, and monetize the flow of intelligence across APIs and AI models.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in modern front-end architectures, headless CMS systems, and scalable web platforms while gaining influence over technical direction, mentoring peers, and contributing to high-impact marketing and developer-facing experiences that support Kong’s mission in the agentic era.

🎯 Requirements

• 4-6 years of experience in full-stack web development with strong expertise in front-end engineering and CMS/back-end integration
• Deep proficiency in Next.js, TypeScript, modern CSS, and headless CMS platforms (PayloadCMS preferred)
• Strong understanding of web application architecture, performance optimization, and scalable system design
• Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions), and distributed/cloud environments (e.g., AWS)
• Familiarity with MVC principles and building maintainable, CMS-driven web platforms
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with close attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in distributed team environments
