  • • As a ServiceNow UX Developer at Okta, you will be instrumental in shaping the digital employee experience by designing, developing, and continuously enhancing user interfaces and workflows across the ServiceNow platform. This role is critical for optimizing how our employees interact with internal systems, particularly within the HR Service Delivery (HRSD) application, ensuring seamless and efficient digital journeys.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to translate complex business requirements and user research findings into intuitive and visually appealing user experiences. This involves creating detailed user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for various ServiceNow components, including forms, Service Portals, the Employee Center, and custom-built applications.
  • • You will be a hands-on developer, implementing these designs directly within the ServiceNow environment. This requires a strong command of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS (including pre-processors like Sass/Less), and JavaScript. Proficiency with modern JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS and React, as well as libraries like jQuery and Bootstrap, is essential for building dynamic and responsive interfaces.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves enhancing existing ServiceNow functionalities and developing new custom widgets, pages, and themes for the Service Portal and the Employee Center. You will ensure these enhancements align with ServiceNow's platform design system and the principles of the Next Experience UI, maintaining a consistent and modern look and feel.
  • • You will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for ServiceNow UX best practices. This includes providing guidance, sharing insights, and making recommendations to development teams, project managers, and business stakeholders to ensure the platform's user experience is consistently optimized.
  • • The role requires configuring and extending various ServiceNow modules, such as HRSD, ITSM, CSM, and GRC, with a focus on improving their usability and user adoption. You will be involved in the full project lifecycle, from defining requirements and designing workflows to participating in build, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • • Ensuring that all ServiceNow applications adhere to Okta's security standards and best practices is paramount. You will collaborate with security teams to implement secure coding practices and configurations, safeguarding sensitive company and employee data.
  • • You will leverage your ability to conduct both qualitative and quantitative user research. This includes planning and executing user interviews, surveys, and usability testing sessions to deeply understand user needs, pain points, and behaviors. The insights gained will directly inform your design decisions and iterations.
  • • A significant part of your work will involve creating low-fidelity sketches and high-fidelity interactive prototypes. These artifacts are crucial for exploring various design solutions, communicating concepts effectively to stakeholders, and gathering early feedback to validate design directions before full-scale development.
  • • You will possess a strong understanding of fundamental UI design principles, including layout, typography, and color theory. Your ability to craft engaging, aesthetically pleasing, and highly intuitive user interactions will be a key differentiator.
  • • Experience with responsive design principles and ensuring cross-browser compatibility is vital to guarantee a consistent and optimal user experience across all devices and browsers.
  • • You will gain extensive experience with the ServiceNow Employee Center and Service Portal, focusing on widget development, theme customization, and portal configuration to tailor the user experience to Okta's specific needs.
  • • Proficiency with UI Builder for constructing Next Experience UI Landing Pages, Configurable Workspaces, and custom web experiences will be a core part of your development toolkit.
  • • Familiarity with ServiceNow's core configuration elements, such as UI policies, client scripts, and business rules, and how they impact user experience, is necessary for effective development and troubleshooting.
  • • You must be proactive in staying updated on the latest UI/UX best practices, emerging technologies, and changes within the ServiceNow platform. A propensity for incorporating modern design trends into solution design will be highly valued.
  • • A deep sense of empathy and a consistently user-centric mindset are essential. You will be a strong advocate for the end-user throughout the entire design and development process, ensuring their needs are at the forefront of every decision.
  • • You will utilize industry-standard UI/UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar platforms for creating wireframes, prototypes, and final visual designs.
