đź“‹ Description
- • As the Shopify POS Launch Lead at Lazer Technologies Inc., you will be instrumental in orchestrating the successful deployment of Shopify's Point of Sale system for world-class digital retail brands. This pivotal role places you at the forefront of transforming how leading retailers manage their in-store operations, acting as the primary liaison between Lazer, our clients, and their store teams. You will dive deep into the intricacies of current retail operations, meticulously documenting existing workflows across sales, returns, exchanges, end-of-day procedures, inventory management, and omnichannel fulfillment strategies like ship-from-store and Buy Online, Pick Up In Store (BOPIS).
- • Your expertise will be crucial in translating these findings into actionable, future-state Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), comprehensive job aids, and clear checklists that form the backbone of the new operational model. You will proactively identify potential gaps and risks in the transition, driving consensus among diverse stakeholders, including Retail Operations, Store Leadership, and Headquarters, to establish a unified and efficient “one way of working” while thoughtfully accommodating necessary location-specific exceptions.
- • A significant aspect of your role involves hands-on configuration and validation of the Shopify POS system. This includes optimizing in-store usability settings such as the Smart Grid for efficient product organization, configuring location-specific settings, and tailoring other operational parameters to align seamlessly with the defined SOPs. Your goal is to ensure that the associate and manager experience within the POS directly reflects the documented processes, guiding users on what actions to take, in what sequence, and the underlying rationale.
- • You will be the architect and deliverer of comprehensive training and change management programs. This involves developing role-based training plans tailored for different user groups (e.g., associates versus managers), creating engaging and effective training materials, and establishing a structured delivery schedule. Your ability to conduct live training sessions, both in-person and remotely, facilitate dynamic Q&A sessions, and instill confidence in store teams prior to go-live is paramount to the success of the rollout.
- • Taking ownership of the entire rollout execution and post-launch hypercare phase is a core responsibility. You will manage the rollout playbook, ensuring store readiness through detailed checklists, meticulously planning the cutover process, and providing critical on-the-ground support during launch days. During rollout waves, you will be the steady, reassuring presence, triaging immediate issues, and ensuring timely escalation to the appropriate technical teams or vendors when necessary.
- • While not directly responsible for the technical build, you will collaborate closely with the Technical Architect and Engineering teams. You will embed yourself within the project team to gain a thorough understanding of POS requirements and any client-specific customizations, such as those managed by Tim Silver. This knowledge is essential for effectively training and supporting the field teams during the rollout, enabling you to answer questions and address concerns related to existing customizations without needing to engineer them yourself.
- • Your role also includes light hardware support, assisting with the basic setup and troubleshooting of in-store hardware like iPads, scanners, printers, and payment devices, adhering to pre-defined standards. You will act as a key point of contact, coordinating with the Technical Architect and IT departments on crucial decisions regarding Mobile Device Management (MDM), network infrastructure, and other technical prerequisites, though you will not be the primary spec owner for these areas.
- • This is a highly visible, hands-on position that requires a blend of operational expertise, technical understanding, and exceptional people skills. You will be the driving force behind ensuring that Lazer's enterprise retail clients can leverage Shopify POS to its fullest potential, transforming their store operations and enhancing the customer experience.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail systems implementation, POS rollouts, store systems management, or retail operations enablement.
- • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Shopify POS, or a very similar POS system, including a strong understanding of its capabilities and limitations.
- • Proven success in leading multi-store retail system rollouts, including experience with on-site training and go-live support.
- • Exceptional skills in developing clear, operationally sound Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
- • Comfort and confidence working in a dynamic in-store environment, capable of coaching staff, adapting to fast-paced situations, and maintaining composure during critical launch events.
- • Willingness and ability to travel for rollout waves, estimated at approximately 25% of the time, with potential for intensive travel periods.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive hourly rate for contract position.
- • Opportunity to work with a world-class digital product studio with a strong client roster.
- • Gain experience shaping the future of retail technology for prominent brands.
- • Flexible work environment with the ability to align working hours with Eastern Time (ET) or Pacific Time (PT).
