• As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) specializing in Data Infrastructure, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the backbone of our data operations, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
• You will collaborate closely with a diverse range of cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data analysts, and application developers, to design, implement, and manage the foundational data infrastructure that powers Kraken's extensive suite of applications and services.
• A core aspect of your role will involve designing and implementing robust data governance mechanisms. This includes ensuring our data lakehouse is not only easy to interact with but also secure and fully compliant with all applicable regulations, safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining trust.
• You will be responsible for architecting and deploying the infrastructure required for efficient data ingestion, storage, and cataloging. This involves implementing systems that correctly tag data with the right metadata and meticulously capture its lineage, providing transparency and auditability.
• A key deliverable will be the provision of a state-of-the-art suite of Business Intelligence (BI) tools, empowering multiple teams across the company to derive actionable insights from data.
• You will be the guardian of our data platform's availability, high performance, scalability, and cost efficiency, ensuring it meets the demanding needs of a rapidly growing global business.
• Your expertise in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, will be crucial in designing, provisioning, and managing infrastructure components using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with tools like Terraform.
• You will develop and maintain automation scripts, primarily using bash shell scripting, to streamline operational tasks, automate deployments, and reduce manual intervention, thereby enhancing team productivity.
• Enhancing and managing CI/CD pipelines is a significant part of this role, ensuring consistent, reliable, and efficient software deployments across the entire data infrastructure.
• Implementing and managing sophisticated data monitoring and alerting solutions will be vital for proactively detecting anomalies, performance bottlenecks, and potential issues before they impact users.
• You will manage and implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and permissions, ensuring secure and appropriate data access for a multitude of user groups and machine workflows across various environments.
• A critical responsibility includes managing and maintaining our real-time streaming data architecture, leveraging technologies such as Kafka and Debezium for Change Data Capture (CDC), ensuring data is processed and available with minimal latency.
• You will guarantee the timely and accurate processing of streaming data, enabling data analysts and engineers to gain insights from the most up-to-date information, which is crucial for real-time decision-making.
• Utilizing Kubernetes for managing containerized applications within the data infrastructure will be essential for ensuring efficient deployment, scaling, and orchestration of our services.
• You will play a key role in developing and refining effective incident response procedures and actively participate in on-call rotations to ensure the continuous availability of our critical data systems.
• Collaborating with data analysts, engineers, and other cross-functional teams to deeply understand their requirements and translate them into robust, scalable infrastructure solutions is paramount.
• You will be responsible for meticulously documenting architecture, processes, and best practices, fostering knowledge sharing and supporting a culture of continuous improvement within the team and across the organization.
• You will provide essential support to our AI/ML teams, addressing their infrastructure requests and ensuring they have the resources needed to innovate and develop cutting-edge solutions.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience (5+ years) working as a Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Data Infrastructure Engineer, or similar roles, with a strong focus on data infrastructure and security.
• Experience with maintaining real-time data processing technologies, such as Kafka and Flink clusters, and Debezium instances.
• Working experience in managing hybrid multi-tenant cloud systems, particularly on AWS.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, and Atlantis.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, particularly Kubernetes, Nomad, and Docker.
• Solid understanding of bash shell scripting and proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python or JVM languages).
