- • At GitLab, we are proactively building a pipeline of exceptional talent for future Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) opportunities. This expression of interest is for a role that may not be immediately available, but by engaging with outstanding professionals now, we can move swiftly when the right moment arises.
- • As a Site Reliability Engineer at GitLab, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and efficiency of our cutting-edge AI-powered DevSecOps platform. You will be instrumental in maintaining the robust infrastructure that underpins our mission to enable everyone to contribute to and co-create the software that powers our world.
- • You will be responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable, fault-tolerant systems that meet the demands of a rapidly growing global user base. This involves a deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native technologies, and best practices in reliability engineering.
- • A core aspect of this role is to embrace and integrate AI into daily workflows, leveraging it as a core productivity multiplier. You will be expected to explore and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance system monitoring, automate incident response, optimize resource utilization, and proactively identify potential issues before they impact users.
- • You will collaborate closely with development and operations teams to foster a culture of shared responsibility for reliability. This includes participating in the design and architecture reviews, providing feedback on operational readiness, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- • Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining robust monitoring and alerting systems, ensuring comprehensive visibility into the health and performance of our platform. You will also be involved in capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery strategies to guarantee business continuity.
- • Incident management and response will be a critical function. You will be on-call to address production issues, conduct thorough post-mortems, and implement preventative measures to minimize future occurrences. The ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems under pressure is paramount.
- • You will contribute to the automation of operational tasks, reducing toil and freeing up valuable engineering time. This includes developing and maintaining infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment strategies.
- • Working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure will be a daily activity. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to security best practices.
- • You will be a champion for reliability best practices across the engineering organization, advocating for SLOs (Service Level Objectives), error budgets, and a blameless culture.
- • The role involves staying abreast of the latest trends and technologies in SRE, cloud computing, and AI, and evaluating their potential application within GitLab's ecosystem.
- • You will contribute to the development and maintenance of internal tools and platforms that support SRE functions, enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
- • This is a remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere, aligning with GitLab's commitment to a distributed workforce and fostering a healthy work-life balance.
- • By expressing interest, you are signaling your desire to be part of a high-performance culture driven by values and continuous knowledge exchange, where you can reach your full potential and collaborate with industry leaders.
- • You will be part of an organization that is building the most comprehensive AI-powered DevSecOps platform, transforming how the world develops software and enabling human progress through technology.
- • We are looking for individuals who are passionate about building and maintaining highly reliable systems, who thrive in a collaborative and innovative environment, and who are eager to leverage AI to push the boundaries of what's possible in software development.
- • Your contributions will directly impact the success of our customers and the advancement of our mission, making this a highly rewarding and impactful career opportunity.
- • We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels empowered to contribute their best work.
