đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Parity Technologies, a pioneering force in building the core infrastructure for blockchain technology, and contribute to the foundational elements of a more secure, decentralized, and user-centric internet. As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) within our Acceleration department, you will be instrumental in ensuring the robustness, scalability, and efficiency of the development, testing, and production environments that power the Polkadot ecosystem.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of Web3 innovation, collaborating with a global, remote-first team dedicated to open-source development. You will be a key player in maintaining and enhancing the reliability of critical projects like Polkadot, Polkadot SDK, and Kusama, which are shaping the next generation of connected and decentralized applications.
  • • Your primary focus will be on automating, scaling, and maintaining the complex infrastructure that underpins Parity's blockchain initiatives. You will leverage cutting-edge cloud-native technologies, gaining hands-on experience with industry-leading tools and platforms, and directly influencing the performance and availability of a globally distributed decentralized network.
  • • A significant aspect of your role will involve the design and maintenance of cloud infrastructure, primarily utilizing Terraform for infrastructure as code and Kubernetes for container orchestration within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This will require a deep understanding of cloud architecture and best practices for managing scalable and resilient systems.
  • • You will be a champion for automation, tasked with developing, optimizing, and streamlining Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. This includes working with tools such as GitHub Actions and ArgoCD to ensure seamless, efficient, and reliable software deployments, minimizing manual intervention and reducing the risk of human error.
  • • Optimizing containerized workloads will be a core responsibility. You will employ Docker for containerization and Kubernetes for orchestration to ensure applications run efficiently, scale effectively, and remain highly available. This involves understanding resource management, performance tuning, and scaling strategies within a containerized environment.
  • • A critical objective is to continuously improve system reliability. This entails proactive monitoring of systems, swift and effective troubleshooting of issues, and performance optimization to maintain high availability and resilience across all Parity’s infrastructure. You will be responsible for identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing solutions to prevent outages and ensure consistent service delivery.
  • • Collaboration is key to success in this role. You will work closely with software engineers, particularly those developing applications in Rust and Python, to ensure smooth and efficient deployment processes. This cross-functional interaction will foster a shared understanding of infrastructure needs and deployment challenges, leading to more robust and reliable software releases.
  • • You will contribute to the overall mission of making Polkadot the most active and innovative community in blockchain, empowering developers and fostering a new era of decentralized applications. Your work will directly support the vision of a better web that prioritizes individual freedom and data ownership.
  • • This position is fully remote, offering flexibility in your work environment while still providing opportunities for team and company-wide retreats to foster connection and collaboration. You will be joining a team of passionate individuals who are excited about the impact of their work and eager to grow within the dynamic Web3 space.
  • • As part of the Acceleration department, you will contribute to ecosystem growth by building essential tools, fostering integrations, and nurturing partnerships across the Polkadot network, directly impacting the adoption and success of the technology.
  • • You will report to the Site Reliability Engineering Manager, becoming an integral part of a dedicated SRE team focused on providing rock-solid infrastructure that supports the most advanced blockchain technologies.
  • • The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to continuous learning, and a passion for building and maintaining highly available and performant systems in a fast-paced, evolving technological landscape.
  • • You will be empowered to make significant contributions to the architecture and operational excellence of our infrastructure, influencing the direction of our technological stack and ensuring the stability of a globally recognized blockchain network.
  • • This is an opportunity to not only maintain but also innovate within the SRE domain, exploring new tools and methodologies to enhance efficiency, security, and reliability.
  • • You will be part of a company that values diversity and inclusion, fostering a welcoming environment for all team members across its global, remote-first workforce.
