📋 Description

• As the Software Architect for Hardware Integration at Olix USA Inc., you will serve as the foremost technical authority on hardware-software integration across the Optical Tensor Processing Unit (OTPU), shaping the technical vision from pre-silicon through post-silicon and sustainment engineering. This role is critical to bridging the hardware-software boundary in a next-generation AI infrastructure company solving one of the century’s most pressing technological challenges.
• You will partner with the Software Engineering Director to define long-term technical direction, set architectural standards, and make pivotal technical decisions that determine how firmware, BSP, ASIC validation, BMC platforms, and photonic interconnect fabric integrate across the full stack.
• Day to day, you will translate business strategy into architectural priorities, define interface contracts and principles that guide cross-team development, and own technical decision-making at the hardware-software boundary without relying on positional authority.
• You will lead through influence, driving alignment across engineering teams by establishing rigour, clarity, and technical excellence, while mentoring senior engineers to raise the technical ceiling across the organisation.
• You will own the full lifecycle of hardware development — from emulation and silicon bring-up to post-silicon debug, characterisation, production reliability, and field issue resolution — ensuring architectural integrity is maintained across pre-silicon, post-silicon, and sustainment phases.
• You will collaborate closely with hardware, silicon, and software teams to ensure robust observability, incident management, and rapid response to field issues, particularly in high-reliability environments.
• You will produce authoritative design documents and clearly articulate complex architectural trade-offs to engineers, managers, and senior leadership, establishing reference points that guide organisational alignment.
• You will work within a mission-driven company building the Optical Tensor Processing Unit (OTPU), a breakthrough technology designed to overcome the limitations of decade-old hardware blueprints by delivering unmatched performance and energy efficiency for AI workloads.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven track record delivering complex hardware-software integration architecture that has shipped across multiple generations in large, fast-moving organisations.
• Deep expertise in systems software, firmware, and hardware-software co-development, with hands-on experience in ASIC bring-up and validation, BMC/firmware platforms, or high-speed interconnect fabrics.
• Full lifecycle experience working hardware from pre-silicon through production, including simulation/emulation, silicon bring-up, post-silicon debug and characterisation, and long-tail sustainment engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to drive technical outcomes in high-reliability environments, including robust observability, incident management, and close collaboration with hardware and silicon teams on field issues.
• Outstanding technical communication skills — able to articulate architectural decisions clearly to engineers, managers, and senior leadership, and produce design documents that become organisational reference points.
