Software Build Install Engineer

📋 Description

• • Own the end-to-end design, architecture, and evolution of Jitterbit’s next-generation build and install systems for our unified AI-infused low-code platform (iPaaS, API Management, LCAP, EDI) that has earned Gartner Magic Quadrant recognition for ten consecutive years.
• • Architect and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable CI/CD pipelines that enable hundreds of daily deployments across micro-services, containers, and serverless components while guaranteeing sub-minute rollback windows for our global customer base.
• • Automate every step of the software delivery lifecycle—from source code checkout through artifact packaging, container image creation, dependency scanning, security validation, and multi-region SaaS rollouts—so that feature teams can ship confidently and customers experience zero-downtime upgrades.
• • Build self-service tooling and golden-path templates that let product engineers create, test, and release new services without writing pipeline YAML or touching infrastructure, while still enforcing policy, cost, and security guardrails.
• • Partner with Site Reliability Engineering to instrument observability (metrics, traces, logs) into the build and install process itself, turning pipeline health, build duration, failure rates, and artifact provenance into actionable dashboards and SLOs.
• • Design deterministic, reproducible build environments using technologies such as Bazel, Docker, BuildKit, and OCI artifacts; eliminate “works on my machine” by guaranteeing bit-for-bit identical outputs across developer laptops, CI nodes, and production clusters.
• • Create automated install and upgrade workflows that allow enterprise customers to deploy Jitterbit on-prem, in private clouds, or hybrid topologies with a single CLI command or Helm chart, including pre-flight checks, schema migrations, and canary traffic shifting.
• • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by running post-mortems on every build or install incident, feeding lessons learned back into pipeline design, and mentoring junior engineers on build-system best practices.
• • Collaborate with Product Management to translate customer deployment pain points into backlog epics, then deliver incremental features such as blue-green releases, feature flags, or hot-patch mechanisms that reduce customer risk and increase adoption velocity.
• • Evaluate emerging build and packaging technologies (e.g., WebAssembly, supply-chain security tools like Sigstore, or next-gen package managers) and run proof-of-concept spikes that keep Jitterbit at the cutting edge of developer productivity and supply-chain integrity.
• • Ensure compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP requirements by embedding security scanning (SAST, DAST, dependency CVE checks, license audits) into every build and producing signed SBOMs for every release artifact.
• • Contribute to open-source communities and internal guilds, sharing knowledge through tech talks, blog posts, and pair-programming sessions that elevate the entire engineering organization’s understanding of build, install, and DevOps excellence.
