- • Software Engineer role focused on building developer experience and core microservices for Octopus Energy Trading’s in-house platform, enabling domain teams to develop, ship, and manage event-driven microservices with zero overhead.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing frameworks and tooling for domain teams, building and maintaining reusable core microservices, and contributing to a tech-first approach that supports grid flexibility and Net Zero goals.
- • Part of Octopus Energy Trading, a division of Octopus Energy Group, dedicated to innovating energy trading through technology to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, flexible energy system.
- • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge systems that optimize domestic EV charging, grid-scale batteries, and energy forecasting, while gaining deep experience in platform engineering, event-driven architectures, and in-house tooling for energy trading applications.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience as a software engineer with strong programming skills
- • Background in building frameworks, tooling, or developer experience platforms
- • Experience designing and maintaining microservices, particularly event-driven architectures
- • Familiarity with in-house platform development and reusable service design
- • Ability to collaborate with domain-focused engineering teams
- • Comfort working in a hybrid environment with 2-3 days per week in the London office
