📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable software solutions for Deputy’s global workforce management platform used by over 1.5 million workers and 375,000 workplaces across 100+ countries.
• Collaborate directly with product managers, designers, and engineering peers to define, prioritize, and deliver high-impact features that improve the experience of hourly workers and their employers.
• Build and maintain backend services and APIs that power core platform functionality, including scheduling, time tracking, payroll integration, and compliance automation.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following established engineering standards and best practices, with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives as part of an agile development team.
• Leverage AI tools responsibly and creatively in daily workflows to accelerate problem-solving, generate ideas, and enhance productivity, with training and support provided by the company.
• Contribute to the evolution of Deputy’s engineering culture by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior engineers, and advocating for technical excellence.
• Ensure software solutions are compliant with regional labor regulations and data privacy standards across international markets.
• Optimize system architecture to support high availability and scalability as the platform continues to grow globally.
• Debug and resolve production issues promptly, participating in on-call rotations to maintain platform reliability.
• Work closely with customer success and support teams to understand user pain points and translate them into technical requirements.
• Contribute to the documentation of systems, APIs, and processes to improve team-wide knowledge sharing and onboarding.
• Embrace Deputy’s mission to transform frontline work by building technology that empowers hourly workers and makes their workplaces more productive, compliant, and engaging.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, proposing and evaluating new tools or frameworks that align with Deputy’s technical roadmap.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proven experience building and maintaining scalable backend systems in a SaaS environment
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Experience working in agile development teams with CI/CD pipelines
