- • Engineer backend services using Python and Golang with high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code to support Astro’s cloud-native Airflow infrastructure.
- • Collaborate with engineering, product, customer reliability support, and leadership teams to define system evolution and achieve business objectives.
- • Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain code quality and team standards.
- • Optimize the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing backend services handling enterprise-grade data orchestration at scale.
- • Investigate user pain points, prototype solutions, and propose improvements to enhance the overall user experience of the Astro platform.
- • Create and maintain clear, accessible technical documentation for systems, processes, and architectural decisions.
- • Participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production incidents in a timely manner.
- • Apply software development best practices including CI/CD, version control, automation, testing, and debugging throughout the development lifecycle.
- • Scope complex engineering tasks, coordinate cross-functionally to mitigate risks, and ensure successful delivery of infrastructure initiatives.
- • Adapt quickly to a fast-paced development environment with evolving requirements and priorities.
- • Proactively identify systemic issues, take ownership of resolution, and drive accountability across technical initiatives.
- • Integrate with RESTful APIs and distributed systems to connect the open-source Apache Airflow ecosystem with enterprise cloud infrastructure.
- • Contribute to building the critical layer that enables global organizations to orchestrate data pipelines reliably and efficiently.
- • Work in a hybrid model based in New York City, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3-5 years of experience in Python and/or Golang
- • Experience with Kubernetes
- • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and distributed systems
- • Comfort with testing frameworks such as pytest
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in creating technical specifications
- • Passion for reliability and operational excellence
