📋 Description

• Design and build high-performance backend services for data ingestion, processing, and real-time distribution to power AuraNet, Dominion Dynamics' mesh networking platform for autonomous assets in contested and disconnected environments.
• Develop and optimize pub/sub networking capabilities using Zenoh to enable low-latency, end-to-end encrypted mesh communications across distributed autonomous systems.
• Build and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs that support operator interfaces, internal tooling, and external integrations for the AuraNet platform.
• Create integrations with flight stacks and simulation environments including MAVLink, ArduPilot, Unreal Engine, and Gazebo to enable seamless software-hardware interaction.
• Develop secure asset management workflows using certificate-based authentication and PKI infrastructure to ensure trusted identity and access control across the fleet.
• Build automated testing frameworks and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to ensure system reliability, rapid iteration, and production-grade stability.
• Review code, uphold engineering standards, and actively contribute to the overall architecture and scalability of the backend platform.
• Work across engineering and operational disciplines to integrate software into deployed autonomous systems operating in real-world, field-deployed conditions.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure software systems meet mission-critical connectivity requirements where network availability is constrained and security is paramount.
• Participate in cross-functional discussions to align backend development with operational needs of the Canadian Armed Forces and allied partners.
• Maintain and evolve the platform’s security posture by applying best practices in end-to-end encryption, authentication, and authorization protocols.
• Contribute to documentation, system monitoring, and incident response procedures to ensure continuous operational readiness of deployed systems.
• Engage in iterative development cycles with short feedback loops, directly influencing the functionality of systems currently in use by operators.
• Support the deployment and validation of software updates in field environments through close coordination with field teams and test units.
• Prioritize clean, maintainable code and adhere to software engineering fundamentals across all backend development tasks.
• Adapt to evolving requirements in a high-trust environment where rapid iteration and direct impact are core to the mission.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals — TCP/IP, UDP, and publish/subscribe architectures.
• Experience with security concepts — end-to-end encryption, PKI, authentication, and authorization.
• Production experience in Go, Python, Java, C++, or a comparable backend language.
• Experience building and shipping distributed systems in production environments.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals; writes clean, maintainable code.
• Eligibility for Canadian security clearance preferred; Canadian citizenship an asset.
