📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer on the Foundations team at Front, you will build and maintain the shared backend frameworks, libraries, and internal tooling that power the entire engineering organization, enabling teams to move fast and build with confidence by eliminating friction across systems and setting architectural standards.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing reliable, observable, and performant systems such as the event-driven task queue, batch job framework, database ORM, and real-time event infrastructure; owning and evolving CI/CD pipelines for safe and fast delivery; creating tooling for automated infrastructure provisioning; collaborating with engineering teams to identify pain points and drive adoption of shared patterns; influencing backend architecture and engineering-wide standards; and navigating ambiguity to define and solve complex problems that impact the entire platform.
• The Foundations team is the backbone of Front’s engineering velocity, providing the core systems and developer experience that allow product teams to focus on customer-facing innovation without reinventing the wheel — making this role critical to scaling Front’s platform while maintaining reliability and consistency.
• You will gain deep exposure to production-grade distributed systems, influence technical direction across the organization, and develop expertise in platform engineering, developer tooling, and infrastructure at scale — positioning you as a key enabler of engineering excellence with compounding impact on every feature shipped.

🎯 Requirements

• Backend JavaScript/TypeScript engineering experience with a focus on building frameworks, libraries, or developer-facing internal tools
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems with strong emphasis on reliability, observability, and performance
• Exceptional software design fundamentals and a proven track record of delivering high-complexity projects
• Clear, structured thinking and strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with and influence other engineering teams
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in dynamic, fast-paced environments without a fully-defined roadmap
