📋 Description

• Architect & scale the build pipeline that powers 1M+ daily builds for developers & AI agents worldwide. You will own the distributed systems that transform source code into globally-cached, edge-deployed artifacts in seconds, ensuring sub-second cold-start times and zero-downtime rollouts.
• Turn code into live experiences in seconds—own the core infrastructure behind modern web deployment. Every commit you process becomes a live preview URL, a production release, or an AI-generated branch, giving creators instant feedback and end-users the fastest possible experience.
• Work fully-remote with a product-obsessed team that values deep focus, rapid iteration & open-source collaboration. You will join a globally distributed group of engineers who default to async communication, pair when it matters, and ship small, reversible changes multiple times per day.
• Design and maintain the orchestration layer that schedules millions of containerized builds across multi-region Kubernetes clusters, balancing cost, latency, and reliability while automatically scaling from zero to thousands of concurrent jobs.
• Build intelligent caching strategies that reduce redundant work by 90 %, leveraging content-addressable storage, deterministic hashing, and fine-grained dependency analysis to make incremental builds feel instantaneous.
• Instrument every stage of the pipeline with high-cardinality metrics, distributed tracing, and real-time alerting so that regressions are caught before customers notice and performance trends are visible to every engineer.
• Contribute to open-source projects like Turborepo, Next.js, and the Build Output API, turning internal innovations into community standards and gathering feedback from thousands of external contributors.
• Collaborate with Developer Experience teams to expose ergonomic CLI commands, GitHub integrations, and dashboard features that abstract away infrastructure complexity while preserving power-user control.
• Partner with Security & Compliance to embed SLSA provenance, artifact signing, and vulnerability scanning directly into the build graph, ensuring every deployment is verifiable and safe by default.
• Mentor early-career engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and RFC feedback, fostering a culture of continuous learning and shared ownership.
• Influence product strategy by translating customer pain points into technical roadmaps, balancing short-term reliability wins with long-term bets on edge computing, WebAssembly, and AI-assisted builds.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years building and operating distributed systems at scale, preferably in Go, Rust, or TypeScript
• Deep expertise with container runtimes (Docker, OCI), Kubernetes, and cloud-native CI/CD patterns
• Proven track record of reducing build times through caching, parallelization, or incremental computation
• Nice-to-have: contributions to open-source build tools (e.g., Bazel, Turborepo, Nx) or experience with edge runtimes like V8 isolates or WebAssembly
