📋 Description

• Design, prototype, and build novel AI-native interfaces and interaction models that move beyond traditional software paradigms.
• Develop foundational technologies and frameworks that enable generative UI and computer use experiences for AI systems.
• Collaborate closely with designers, product thinkers, and engineers to rapidly explore, validate, and iterate on new interface concepts.
• Build end-to-end prototypes and production systems that directly influence future OpenAI products including ChatGPT, Codex, and emerging device platforms.
• Contribute to platform technologies that can be adopted across multiple product surfaces within OpenAI’s ecosystem.
• Help establish technical direction and engineering best practices for an incubation-stage team focused on frontier interfaces.
• Participate in a highly iterative development process centered on learning, experimentation, and user feedback to accelerate product discovery.
• Work in a design-driven environment where engineering, product, and design operate as one integrated team.
• Balance rapid prototyping with the development of robust, scalable systems when transitioning ideas to production.
• Explore and implement interaction paradigms that unlock the full potential of AI by redefining how users engage with it in daily life and work.
• Engage in zero-to-one product development, navigating ambiguity and defining the path forward in early-stage exploration.
• Contribute to the technical and experiential evolution of AI interfaces across desktop, mobile, and emerging hardware platforms.
• Maintain a strong focus on user experience and interaction design while applying deep software engineering fundamentals to solve novel problems.
• Work with Apple platforms, Windows, or desktop development environments to prototype and test new interaction models.
• Actively participate in cross-functional collaboration with design and product partners to align technical execution with user-centered goals.
• Help define the future of AI interaction by creating tight feedback loops between ideas, prototypes, technology, and real user input.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building user-facing products
• Experience with Apple platforms, Windows, or desktop development
• Enjoy working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where the path forward is not always obvious
• Have a strong product sense and enjoy thinking deeply about user experience and interaction design
• Can rapidly prototype ideas while also building robust, scalable systems when needed
• Are excited by zero-to-one product development and early-stage exploration
