Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure (Mid-Senior level)

📋 Description

• • Serve as a key contributor to Zip’s Core Infrastructure team in Toronto, building and operating global multi-region architectures to support enterprise-scale procurement platforms.
• • Assume end-to-end ownership of critical infrastructure components including Kubernetes platforms, AI infrastructure, observability systems, deployment pipelines, and cost optimization frameworks.
• • Drive the design, implementation, and operational excellence of highly scalable, resilient systems that underpin Zip’s AI-powered procurement platform used by Fortune 500 enterprises.
• • Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to accelerate the delivery of core features and enable faster innovation across the organization.
• • Build and maintain infrastructure that supports multi-cell architectures across geographically distributed regions to ensure low-latency, high-availability services.
• • Implement and improve automated deployment systems, monitoring tools, and incident response protocols to ensure system reliability and performance at scale.
• • Optimize infrastructure costs through resource allocation analysis, usage pattern monitoring, and efficient cloud resource utilization strategies.
• • Partner with AI and data teams to scale and stabilize infrastructure supporting AI agents that automate procurement workflows for enterprise clients.
• • Champion engineering best practices including infrastructure-as-code, security hardening, and documentation standards across the infrastructure stack.
• • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system uptime and rapid resolution of production incidents.
• • Contribute to technical roadmap planning and prioritization for Core Infrastructure initiatives aligned with company-wide growth objectives.
• • Maintain and evolve open-source tooling and internal platforms such as Celery, Redis, Docling, and DBOS to support distributed task processing and data workflows.
• • Work in a hybrid environment with 5 flexible remote days per quarter and regular in-office collaboration in Toronto.
• • Engage in team-building events, happy hours, and cross-departmental initiatives to foster a collaborative and inclusive engineering culture.
• • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers on infrastructure design, system reliability, and operational discipline.
• • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and open-source solutions to enhance platform capabilities and maintain competitive technical advantage.
• • Translate business requirements from procurement and product teams into scalable infrastructure solutions that support $500B+ in annual spend processing.
• • Maintain strict adherence to security and compliance standards while enabling rapid iteration and deployment cycles for AI-driven features.
