- • As a Software Engineer, Data at LiveKit, you will play a critical role in designing and operating the metering and analytics infrastructure that underpins the company’s voice AI platform, which processes billions of sessions annually for industry leaders like OpenAI, Salesforce, and Spotify. Your work ensures the accuracy, reliability, and scalability of data systems that power customer-facing reporting, agent insights, and internal observability—directly impacting product trust and business decisions.
- • You will design and evolve metering and analytics infrastructure spanning real-time analytics, long-term trend analysis, data transfer, governance, and retention policies, working with Go-based systems that integrate blob stores, SQL databases, and ClickHouse across dozens of global regions to handle massive, high-cardinality usage data from thousands of developers and their end-users.
- • You will collaborate closely with engineering teams across Agents, Agent Insights, Cloud Dashboard, and customer-facing reporting domains to ensure metering and analytics are correct, complete, and aligned with domain-specific needs, translating business requirements into robust, production-ready infrastructure designs.
- • You will ensure data reliability through end-to-end delivery guarantees, dead letter queues, reconciliation processes, validation pipelines, alerting systems, and anomaly detection mechanisms across LiveKit’s distributed service fleet, preventing silent data loss and maintaining trust in analytics at scale.
- • You will design and enforce schema evolution strategies using schema registries and backward/forward compatibility contracts to safely evolve data models without breaking downstream consumers, enabling agile development while preserving data integrity across services and teams.
- • You will optimize ClickHouse clusters and blob storage configurations for query performance, cost efficiency, and operational reliability across global regions, leveraging partitioning, indexing, and data lifecycle policies to reduce latency and infrastructure spend.
- • You will reduce operational toil by building automation, self-service tooling, and comprehensive runbooks that empower teams to manage data pipelines independently, improving velocity and reducing on-call burden through thoughtful platform engineering.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong experience designing and operating data pipelines and distributed systems in production across dozens of global regions
- • Extensive experience with Go (Gopher) and contributing to distributed systems architectures
- • Deep experience with columnar/analytical databases (ClickHouse, BigQuery, or similar) and blob storage for high-volume workloads
- • Strong focus on data correctness, including delivery semantics, idempotency, schema compatibility, and failure mode analysis to prevent silent data loss
- • Proven ability to collaborate across teams to translate domain requirements into practical, scalable infrastructure designs
- • Previous experience working on data-intensive SaaS applications with web-based dashboards in analytics, observability, or finance domains
