- • Join Alt, a pioneering company revolutionizing the alternative asset market, starting with the dynamic $5 billion trading card industry. We empower collectors by providing a seamless platform for buying, selling, vaulting, and financing their valuable cards. Our innovative approach has garnered support from industry leaders at Stripe, Coinbase, Seven Seven Six, and renowned athletes like Tom Brady and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Our next ambitious goal is to establish real-time pricing at scale, creating the 'Alt Value' that underpins every transaction, loan, and product on our platform.
- • As a Software Engineer, Data, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the critical data infrastructure that fuels our sophisticated pricing models and provides invaluable marketplace insights. This role is perfect for a data engineer who is passionate about constructing robust data pipelines and tackling complex data challenges head-on. You will be the custodian of Alt's core data systems, responsible for ingesting, processing, and ensuring the accuracy and freshness of transaction and listing data sourced from dozens of external marketplaces and auction houses.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our data pipelines deliver timely, accurate, and reliable information. This data is the lifeblood of our pricing decisions, market analytics, and business intelligence initiatives, impacting every facet of the Alt platform. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by directly contributing to the intelligence that drives our business forward.
- • Key responsibilities in this role include:
- • Owning and meticulously optimizing data pipelines responsible for scraping and processing vast amounts of transaction and listing data from major auction houses and diverse online marketplaces. This involves developing efficient and scalable extraction methods.
- • Designing, building, and implementing comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems. These systems will be crucial for tracking key performance indicators such as data pipeline latency, uptime, and coverage metrics, ensuring the health and reliability of our data sources.
- • Continuously enhancing our data infrastructure by exploring and adopting modern storage and processing technologies. This includes reducing manual interventions, optimizing for cost-efficiency, maximizing performance, and ensuring overall system reliability.
- • Collaborating closely with internal product and engineering teams to deeply understand their data usage patterns and requirements. Your goal will be to ensure that the data pipelines deliver clean, standardized, and readily usable data that directly meets product specifications and business needs.
- • Acting as a subject matter expert for data quality, understanding that the extraction of raw data is merely the first step. You will focus on transforming this raw data into actionable insights and reliable datasets.
- • Embracing an incremental approach to system improvements, prioritizing evidence-based decision-making over disruptive, wholesale changes. This allows for agile development and continuous refinement.
- • Fostering intellectual curiosity about data flow through complex systems and championing automation opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- • Working at the exciting intersection of data engineering and product development, gaining a profound understanding of how your data pipelines directly influence business outcomes and strategic decisions.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of data infrastructure in the rapidly growing alternative asset space. You will be empowered to take ownership of critical systems, drive innovation, and contribute to a product that is transforming how people interact with collectibles and alternative investments. If you are a proactive, detail-oriented, and impact-driven data professional, this is the perfect environment for you to thrive and grow.
