📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer in Zapier's Enterprise Zone, you will play a pivotal role in scaling automation solutions for large organizations, directly impacting how enterprises adopt and scale workflow automation across complex environments. Your work will ensure reliability, security, and visibility for Zapier’s largest customers, driving innovation in mission-critical systems that support compliance, observability, and cross-product asset management.
• You will lead responses to critical incidents and customer-impacting events, collaborating with engineering, product, and support teams to resolve urgent issues while building internal tools and core product features grounded in real-world enterprise feedback. This includes developing a new extensible platform for account and organization-level settings with declarative controls, VPC connections, and AI guardrail instrumentation.
• You will design and implement scalable backend architecture and APIs for asset cataloguing, ownership, and security, creating unified interfaces for organizing, transferring, and governing assets across accounts and products, while embedding AI to proactively monitor and suggest optimizations in account management.
• You will build and maintain core observability platforms such as User Notifications, Unified Smart Inboxes, Audit Logs, and Public APIs, enhancing customer visibility and control while strengthening SLOs, alerts, and dashboards to support Zapier’s expansion into larger, more complex customer environments.
• You will drive technical alignment with senior leaders and stakeholders, delivering fast-paced solutions and POCs that balance short-term execution with long-term vision, particularly in areas like data standards, compliance automation, and cross-product integrations.
• You will work closely with customers by pulling tickets, engaging with CSMs, and using real feedback to shape what you ship, embracing ambiguity by prototyping quickly and iterating based on evidence rather than waiting for perfect specs.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex, mission-critical SaaS systems, with strong backend engineering skills in Python or Node.js, including API design, database modeling, and CI/CD pipeline expertise.
• Daily workflow centered around directing and reviewing AI agent-written code, with opinions on model selection, experience mitigating AI failure modes, and a track record of enabling team-wide AI adoption or scaling AI impact beyond individual contributions.
• Solid understanding of event-driven systems and platform thinking, including hands-on experience with technologies like Kafka, SQS, Fastify, and observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and Graylog.
• Customer-centric mindset: actively using support tickets, CSM conversations, and feedback to drive development, comfortable shipping minimal viable prototypes quickly to test assumptions and align stakeholders.
• Ownership mentality: comfort with ambiguity, initiative to act without permission, willingness to admit mistakes openly, and commitment to learning from discarded work as part of a fast feedback loop.
• Strong async-first communication skills: proactive in sharing updates, risks, and decisions via written artifacts, demos, and prototypes rather than relying on meetings.
