📋 Description

• Software Engineer II role focused on building AI capabilities for BigCommerce’s AI-driven commerce ecosystem, contributing to scalable AI solutions that empower businesses to innovate and grow.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include building, testing, and integrating AI solutions such as LLM-based systems, RAG pipelines, and agents; implementing structured information extraction and content generation systems; optimizing AI for performance, cost, and reliability; collaborating with Product and Engineering teams; and staying current with AI/ML trends.
• Part of a focused AI services team within Commerce (parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift), working alongside experienced engineers and product partners to deliver reliable, production-quality AI components with ownership and influence.
• Opportunity to grow technical skills in AI/ML, gain hands-on experience with modern GenAI ecosystems, and increase impact through reusable, maintainable AI platform contributions while solving complex commerce challenges.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in Go or another modern backend language such as Python, PHP, or Java
• 1+ year of experience building or working with AI/ML systems in production or production-adjacent environments
• Familiarity with modern GenAI ecosystems (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, Braintrust, PortKey, LangChain)
• Experience with SQL and working with structured data
• Basic working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
