In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the critical tools and infrastructure that empower progressive candidates, organizations, and constituents across America. Civitech is at the forefront of increasing civic participation, supporting Democratic candidates, and advancing progressive causes, having served over 500 partners ranging from nonprofit organizations to national political committees and individual campaigns since its inception in 2019. Our work directly impacts tens of millions of voters, fostering a more equitable and progressive democracy.
• • As a Software Engineer II, you will dive deep into the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Civitech's sophisticated applications and robust infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise will directly shape the products that drive meaningful change. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, researchers, and data scientists, to bring features to life. This collaboration begins at the earliest stages of requirements definition and extends through rigorous testing and comprehensive documentation, ensuring that our products are not only functional but also user-centric and impactful.
• • A significant aspect of your role will involve building scalable, secure, and high-performing features within a dynamic cloud environment. You will contribute to the development of essential systems such as Voter Registration Pipelines, where you'll implement national change of address lookups and work with data science to refine targeting for voter registration mail programs, aiming to register more Democrats. You will also optimize data availability by developing new features that automatically surface election research data in our customer-facing tools, thereby reducing latency for our end-users and providing them with timely, actionable information.
• • Furthermore, you will play a key role in bridging data silos. This involves designing and implementing strategies for the effective and broad sharing of data between various operational PostgreSQL databases and BigQuery data warehouses. By enriching existing datasets, you will enhance the analytical capabilities and overall utility of our data products. Your work will directly contribute to the reliability and efficiency of our core offerings, including tools used by our research team for civic and constituent data management, our internal and external GraphQL API, data export products, and the data engineering for our Voter Registration Mail product.
