📋 Description
- • Software Engineer III role within the Core Experiences engineering group at the Wikimedia Foundation, contributing to either the App Growth or Moderator Tools teams to enhance user engagement and moderator effectiveness across Wikimedia platforms.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering and enabling feature initiatives, implementing moderately complex web features with minimal support, providing production support through timely bug fixes, ensuring quality via testing and observability, collaborating cross-functionally, contributing to planning and prioritization, participating in code reviews and design discussions, and maintaining operational awareness of code impact on usage and trust.
- • The Wikimedia Foundation is a remote-first nonprofit operating Wikipedia and related free knowledge projects, with a mission to enable global access to knowledge; it values diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaborative, consensus-driven engineering practices in a fully distributed workforce spanning 40+ countries.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor's degree plus at least 2 years of equivalent professional web application experience
- • Experience with backend languages like PHP or Python and/or front-end languages, particularly JavaScript frameworks
- • Demonstrated ability to deliver testable, user-friendly features in a collaborative team environment
- • Experience building responsive or mobile-first web experiences
- • Experience converting design mockups into functional components
- • Experience building features with observability and testing in mind
- • Experience incorporating performance and accessibility into features
- • Experience writing well-documented and readable code
