- • Join the MongoDB Networking & Observability team to build core components of a distributed database, focusing on communication between distributed processes and making them easily observable.
- • Improve MongoDB networking, enhance resource utilization efficiency, and develop low-overhead observability features using technologies like OpenTelemetry.
- • Work with a globally distributed team of engineers in NYC and remotely, operating close to the bottom of the stack to influence database availability, performance, robustness, and engineering team efficiency.
- • Contribute to architectural POCs, performance tests, and integration of observability tooling to accelerate issue investigation and ecosystem compatibility.
- • What the person will do day to day: Understand and improve networking and observability codebases, lead medium-sized projects from design to delivery, collaborate across project lifecycles, uphold MongoDB’s leadership principles, and continuously learn and grow technically.

- • What the person can learn or achieve in this role: Deepen expertise in distributed systems, C++ production code, networking, observability, and computer architecture; progress from bug fixes in month one to leading feature design reviews by month six and driving major feature development by year one.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of experience building distributed systems
- • Hands-on experience with building production-level code; experience in C++ is required
- • Solid computer science fundamentals with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture
- • Interest in networking, observability, and how computer architecture impacts system availability
- • Solid verbal and written communication skills; highly motivated to collaborate with colleagues
- • Passionate about delivering and deploying products with cross-team stakeholders
