📋 Description

• • Join Vonage as a Software Engineer – Real-Time Communications and help shape the backbone of a $10B communications API market. You will design, build, and scale the low-latency, high-availability services that power millions of voice, video, and messaging interactions every day for global brands like Uber, Airbnb, and leading healthcare networks.
• • Own end-to-end feature delivery—from ideation and architecture through coding, automated testing, and production deployment—using modern micro-service stacks written in Go, Node.js, and C++.
• • Optimize real-time media flows to achieve sub-100 ms latency worldwide; tune WebRTC, SRTP, and SIP stacks; and implement adaptive bitrate algorithms that gracefully degrade on congested mobile networks.
• • Build self-healing infrastructure on Kubernetes and AWS/GCP, leveraging Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD to push updates hundreds of times per week with zero downtime for customers.
• • Instrument everything: embed Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing so every dropped packet, CPU spike, or GC pause is visible within seconds and can be acted upon before customers notice.
• • Collaborate daily with product managers and UX researchers to translate ambitious road-maps into technical epics, ensuring that new omnichannel capabilities (WhatsApp Business, RCS, programmable video rooms) land on schedule and delight end-users.
• • Champion security and compliance: implement OAuth 2.0 flows, encrypt media at rest with customer-managed keys, and maintain SOC 2 / HIPAA controls without sacrificing developer velocity.
• • Mentor junior engineers through pair programming, design reviews, and lightning talks; foster a blameless post-mortem culture that turns outages into shared learning opportunities.
• • Contribute to open-source communities—our WebRTC patches, SIP libraries, and Kubernetes operators are already used by thousands of developers worldwide.
• • Work 100 % remote from any time zone while staying tightly connected via Slack, Miro, and daily video stand-ups; travel twice a year to our global engineering summits in Lisbon, London, or San Francisco.
