Software Engineer (Scala Go), Courier Group

📋 Description

• • Join Wolt’s Courier Group and become the architect of the logistics engine that moves tens of thousands of couriers across 23 countries every single day. You will design, build and own the micro-services that decide who gets which delivery, how long it will take, and how we keep every promise we make to our customers, merchants and courier partners.
• • Work hands-on with Scala and Go to create fault-tolerant, low-latency systems that process millions of events per minute—from courier location pings to real-time route optimisation. Your code will directly influence delivery times, courier earnings and customer satisfaction in cities from Helsinki to Tokyo.
• • Own the full life-cycle of features: from white-boarding and RFC writing to load-testing in production and post-launch monitoring. You will deploy multiple times a day using our fully automated CI/CD pipelines, backed by Kubernetes, Kafka and AWS.
• • Collaborate in autonomous, cross-functional squads alongside data scientists, product managers, mobile engineers and designers. Together you will experiment with new algorithms (e.g., dynamic batching, predictive ETA, courier incentives) and A/B-test them on live traffic within days, not months.
• • Make data-driven decisions by diving deep into our real-time data lake and building dashboards that surface courier behaviour, market balance and delivery efficiency. You will turn insights into product improvements that shave seconds off every order and euros off operational cost.
• • Champion reliability and scalability. You will set SLOs, conduct blameless post-mortems and build chaos-engineering experiments to ensure our systems gracefully handle Black-Friday-level peaks without breaking a sweat.
• • Mentor and be mentored. Whether you are giving internal tech talks on functional programming patterns in Scala or pairing with a junior engineer on their first Go service, you will help cultivate a culture of continuous learning and psychological safety.
• • Influence the technical direction of the entire Courier Group. You will propose new architectural standards, evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., Rust for ultra-low-latency components) and lead guilds that keep our engineering excellence bar high across all teams.
