Your work will directly impact how drivers buy, sell, and experience automobiles through innovative digital products, aligning with Carwow’s mission to be the go-to destination for car-changing by combining data, design, and engineering excellence.
- • You will collaborate within cross-functional product teams alongside product managers, designers, data analysts, and fellow engineers to design, build, test, and deploy features that solve real-world problems for users. This includes writing clean, maintainable Ruby on Rails code, participating in test-driven development (TDD), contributing to event-driven systems using tools like Kafka, and ensuring operational excellence through continuous deployment practices—releasing code multiple times daily to production.
- • The engineering team at Carwow operates with a strong culture of autonomy, curiosity, and continuous improvement, supported by Engineering Managers who prioritize career progression and team health. You’ll work in a distributed, inclusive environment that values psychological safety, knowledge sharing, and learning from failure, all while being backed by a proven career progression framework that clarifies expectations and growth paths.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in full-stack web development, particularly within the Ruby on Rails ecosystem, while gaining hands-on experience with modern DevOps practices via Terraform and Heroku. You’ll also strengthen your ability to work metrics-driven, communicate effectively across disciplines, and mentor peers—positioning you for long-term growth as a technical leader within a fast-scaling, award-winning tech company recognized for its exceptional culture.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in software engineering with a strong grasp of Ruby and Ruby on Rails, including practical application in building and maintaining web applications.
- • Comfortable working in a test-driven development (TDD) environment and writing code with comprehensive tests, documentation, and clean structure.
- • Experience with or strong interest in event-based systems (e.g., Kafka) and proficiency in using Git or equivalent source control systems.
- • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in distributed, cross-functional teams with product managers, designers, and data analysts.
- • Self-driven mindset with a track record of taking ownership of product outcomes and delivering impact in metrics-driven environments.
- • Commitment to continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and effective communication within engineering teams.

- • Comprehensive wellbeing support: monthly coaching via Spill, inclusive parental and fertility leave policies, bubble childcare support, and discounted nanny fees.
