Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Design, build, and maintain scalable payment infrastructure systems that enable instant pay for healthcare workers and accurate facility invoicing across a nationwide marketplace.
- • Own end-to-end development of financial transaction flows, ensuring workers are paid correctly and facilities are billed accurately within strict regulatory and operational constraints.
- • Implement and enhance fraud detection and prevention mechanisms to protect against financial risk while minimizing false positives that could impact worker payouts or facility operations.
- • Collaborate closely with finance and operations stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions that directly impact worker livelihoods and facility financial health.
- • Develop and maintain reconciliation logic that matches worker earnings data with facility charges, resolving discrepancies in real time to ensure financial integrity.
- • Build and optimize billing systems that handle high-volume, time-sensitive transactions, including automated invoicing cycles and dispute resolution workflows.
- • Utilize Node.js and NestJS to develop robust backend services in TypeScript, ensuring high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance in mission-critical financial systems.
- • Work with MongoDB and PostgreSQL to store and query complex financial datasets, including transaction histories, worker payment records, and facility billing logs.
- • Leverage Redis for caching frequent financial lookups and managing distributed locks in high-concurrency payment processing scenarios.
- • Deploy and monitor systems using AWS services including ECS for container orchestration and Terraform for infrastructure-as-code provisioning.
- • Participate in on-call rotations to respond to production incidents affecting payments, billing, or fraud systems, with a mandate to restore service and prevent recurrence.
- • Write tests and documentation for financial logic to ensure auditability, compliance, and team knowledge sharing across engineering and operations teams.
- • Diagnose and resolve edge cases in payment processing caused by time zone differences, batch job failures, or third-party payment gateway interruptions.
- • Advocate for correctness and reliability over speed in system design, prioritizing worker and facility trust over engineering convenience.
- • Contribute to technical debt reduction in legacy financial modules while maintaining continuous delivery of new features.
- • Participate in async code reviews and design discussions aligned with Clipboard’s remote-first culture and emphasis on clear documentation.
- • Interpret financial data and business metrics to inform architectural decisions and prioritize engineering work that delivers maximum impact to users.
- • Stay updated on compliance standards related to financial transactions, including ACH, PCI, and state-specific payroll regulations.
- • Support the integration of new payment methods and financial partners while ensuring seamless transitions for existing users.
- • Ensure system observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting configured for financial system anomalies and service degradation.
- • Communicate technical risks and dependencies clearly to non-technical stakeholders in finance and operations roles.
- • Champion user-centric design in financial systems, treating every payment delay or billing error as a direct impact on a worker’s ability to support their family.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience building and maintaining transactional systems, payment infrastructure, or financial data pipelines at scale
- • Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, with experience in NestJS or similar backend frameworks
- • Hands-on experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases in production financial environments
- • Experience with AWS services, particularly ECS and Terraform for infrastructure deployment
- • Demonstrated focus on correctness, reliability, and auditability in systems handling money or sensitive financial data
- • Ability to own high-stakes systems end-to-end, including on-call responsibility and incident response
🏖️ Benefits
