Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead and inspire a high-performing engineering group that owns the beating heart of Arctic Wolf’s security analytics: the petabyte-scale Data Platform that ingests, indexes, and serves billions of security events per day for more than 7,000 organizations worldwide.
  • • Own the full product life-cycle for multiple squads—road-mapping, architecture, implementation, quality, deployment, and 24Ă—7 reliability—while ensuring every commit advances our mission to End Cyber Risk.
  • • Translate complex customer and threat-intel requirements into an actionable 3–6-month roadmap in partnership with Product Management and Security Services (S2); balance innovation, technical debt, and operational excellence to ship features that cut threat-detection latency and analyst investigation time.
  • • Champion secure-by-design and privacy-by-design practices; enforce ISMS policies, secure coding standards, and continuous compliance in an environment that handles highly sensitive customer telemetry.
  • • Drive daily execution: break epics into sprint plans, remove blockers, manage on-call rotations, and use data-driven metrics (DORA, cost per query, MTTR) to keep velocity and quality trending upward.
  • • Cultivate a culture of engineering excellence—institute rigorous code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD guardrails, chaos testing, and observability that surfaces anomalies before customers feel them.
  • • Mentor and level-up technical leads and senior engineers through weekly 1:1s, career-lattice planning, and individualized growth tracks; build succession depth so the team scales faster than the business.
  • • Collaborate with staff-level architects to evolve a cloud-native, multi-region architecture leveraging Kubernetes, Kafka, OpenSearch/ClickHouse, and AWS primitives; make build-vs-buy decisions that shave cost and latency while doubling data retention windows.
  • • Partner with Finance and FinOps to model cloud spend, forecast growth scenarios, and negotiate reserved-capacity or spot-instance strategies that keep gross-margin targets on track.
  • • Spearhead recruiting for both full-time and co-op talent—craft compelling job specs, run technical loops, and close candidates who raise the bar on distributed-systems IQ and security-first thinking.
  • • Continuously improve process: pilot blameless post-mortems, experiment with evidence-based retros, and roll out Team Topologies patterns that reduce cognitive load and speed delivery.
  • • Foster cross-team alliances with Detection Engineering, Threat Intel, and Customer Success to ensure the platform surfaces the right data, in the right format, at the right time for every analyst query.
  • • Represent the Data Platform in quarterly business reviews and customer advisory boards—translate technical achievements into ROI stories that resonate with CISOs and channel partners.
  • • Live and evangelize Arctic Wolf’s “Foundations of R&D”: customer obsession, lean experimentation, inclusive collaboration, and relentless self-improvement.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years leading multiple software engineering teams that delivered large-scale data storage, search, or distributed systems in production (Python, Go, Java, or similar).
  • • Demonstrated success owning a 24Ă—7 cloud service on AWS, including Kubernetes, Kafka, and observability tooling; familiarity with cost-optimization and FinOps practices.
  • • Proven ability to translate product strategy into executable technical roadmaps while balancing security, reliability, and business priorities.
  • • Experience with search or OLAP technologies such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or ClickHouse at multi-terabyte scale.
  • • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; background checks and export-control authorization required.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Equity participation for every employee plus RRSP/401(k) matching to build long-term wealth.
  • • Flexible time-off policy, paid volunteer days, and paid parental leave to support work-life harmony.
  • • Comprehensive private benefits: medical, dental, vision, disability, life, AD&D, fertility support, and a robust Employee Assistance Program.
  • • Annual training and conference budget, internal career development programs, and tuition reimbursement to accelerate your growth.
