• As a Software Engineering Team Lead for Redis Flex in Bulgaria, you will be instrumental in establishing and growing a brand-new engineering team in Sofia. This is a unique opportunity to shape both the technological direction and the team culture from its inception. You will work closely with global Redis teams, contributing to one of the most strategic and technically challenging areas within the company. Redis Flex is at the forefront of innovation, pushing the boundaries of Redis by seamlessly integrating RAM and Flash storage. This integration allows for the support of massive datasets without compromising the high performance that Redis is known for, directly impacting enterprise customers and defining the future of Redis.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a wide range of critical activities. You will be responsible for building and nurturing the Redis Flex team in Sofia, which includes actively participating in the hiring process, ensuring smooth onboarding for new members, and fostering continuous professional development. You will lead and mentor engineers, providing guidance and support while remaining hands-on in development to stay connected with the technical challenges. A significant part of your role will involve owning the technical direction of the team, which includes defining the architecture, driving the product roadmap, and making crucial decisions for complex system designs. You will be designing and building highly efficient data management systems that operate across both RAM and Flash storage, with a keen focus on optimizing performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• You will be tasked with tackling deep and complex system challenges inherent in hybrid storage solutions. This includes, but is not limited to, intricate problems related to data placement strategies, effective eviction policies for managing data in memory, robust persistence mechanisms to ensure data durability, and maintaining consistency across different storage tiers. Your role will also involve extensive cross-functional collaboration with various global teams, including Redis Core, Cloud, Performance, and Customer-facing teams. This collaboration is essential for ensuring alignment and successful integration of the Flex technology. Furthermore, you will be responsible for driving the execution of projects from the initial concept phase all the way through to production, operating within a fast-paced, high-impact environment where agility and efficiency are paramount.
• The Redis Flex team is at the heart of innovation, working on a high-performance hybrid storage engine that operates at the critical intersection of Redis Core, advanced storage engines like Speedb, and sophisticated large-scale system design principles. 🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building production-grade systems, with strong hands-on development in C/C++ on Linux.
• 4+ years of experience leading teams or driving large-scale projects end-to-end.
• Strong systems programming background, including expertise in memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Experience with storage systems, databases, or data-intensive applications.
• Ability to think holistically about system trade-offs, such as latency, throughput, durability, and cost.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
• Nice to Have: Experience with LSM-based storage engines (e.g., RocksDB, Speedb).
• Nice to Have: Background in hybrid storage systems (memory + disk/flash).
• Nice to Have: Familiarity with NoSQL databases or distributed systems.
• Nice to Have: Experience working on large-scale, high-throughput data platforms.
