Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Solar Construction Manager at FluidStack Inc. is a critical role responsible for delivering utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects from mobilization through energization. This role matters because it directly enables FluidStack’s mission to deploy frontier compute infrastructure at unprecedented speed and scale, ensuring AI development aligns with human freedom by building the physical foundation for AI data centers faster than anyone else. The Construction Team is redefining how gigawatts of infrastructure are built — moving beyond traditional methods to create repeatable, modular, and scalable construction processes that can be deployed a thousand times over.
- • Own day-to-day site execution for utility-scale solar and BESS projects, orchestrating EPC contractors, civil crews, electrical trades, and equipment vendors to deliver safe, on-schedule, on-budget facilities from mobilization through energization.
- • Build, maintain, and drive integrated construction schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project across civil, structural, electrical, BESS, substation, and gen-tie scopes, issuing recovery plans immediately when critical path slips occur.
- • Enforce site safety programs and hold every subcontractor to a zero-incident standard, from pre-mobilization safety plans through final punch list.
- • Coordinate civil, racking, PV, inverter, BESS, and MV/HV electrical trades in real time, resolving field conflicts before they impact schedule, and manage QA/QC, RFI, submittal, and change-order workflows to close-out.
- • Track and report daily progress, earned value, cost-to-complete, and resource loading to the Project Manager, surfacing procurement risks on long-lead equipment (transformers, switchgear, inverters) early enough to act.
- • About the team or company: FluidStack Inc. is singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else by rethinking every layer of the stack — acquiring power, designing and building data centers, and operating them with extreme ownership, velocity, first-principles thinking, and a love of the game. The company operates with full autonomy, zero ego, and a commitment to solving the most important problem of our time: aligning AI with human freedom.
- • What the person can learn or achieve in this role: You will have the opportunity to productize data center construction by turning one-off builds into repeatable, modular systems where the hundredth site goes up faster and cleaner than the first. You’ll work at the forefront of AI infrastructure, solving unprecedented scale challenges in construction management, and directly contribute to enabling civilization-scale compute for AI — gaining deep expertise in utility-scale solar, BESS, substation, and gen-tie systems while shaping the future of how infrastructure is delivered at gigawatt scale.
🎯 Requirements
- • Managed utility-scale solar, solar-plus-storage, or high-voltage substation construction from mobilization through commercial operation, with projects delivered on schedule
- • Ability to coordinate civil, racking, PV, electrical, and BESS scopes simultaneously while tracking each trade’s position relative to the critical path
- • Experience writing and executing site safety plans, holding subcontractors to zero-incident standards, and managing safety documentation
- • Skill in identifying long-lead equipment risks, SCADA integration gaps, and interconnection milestone conflicts before they impact schedule
- • Proficiency in building and driving integrated schedules in Primavera P6 or MS Project with reporting specific enough for same-day project manager action
- • Bonus: Utility-scale BESS construction, substation and gen-tie scope, multi-site concurrent delivery, OSHA 30 certification
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity)
- • Retirement or pension plan in line with local norms
- • Health, dental, and vision insurance
- • Generous PTO policy in line with local norms
- • Base salary range of $130,000 - $230,000 per year depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location
- • Opportunity to receive equity in the form of stock options as part of total compensation
