đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Solutions Engineer at KAYAK, you will be an integral part of our mission to revolutionize corporate travel through KAYAK for Business (K4B). This pivotal role sits at the intersection of sales, product, and customer success, demanding a blend of technical acumen, product expertise, and exceptional communication skills. You will be the trusted advisor for prospective and existing SMB and Enterprise clients, guiding them through the evaluation and adoption of K4B, ensuring it effectively addresses their unique travel program challenges.
  • • Your primary focus will be on becoming a deep subject matter expert on KAYAK for Business. This involves a comprehensive understanding of its features, functionalities, integration capabilities, inherent limitations, and future roadmap. You will leverage this expertise to articulate the value proposition of K4B and tailor solutions to specific business needs.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve leading the discovery process with potential customers. This means engaging in consultative conversations to thoroughly understand their current corporate travel needs, existing workflows, operational constraints, and policy requirements. You will ask insightful questions to uncover pain points and identify opportunities where K4B can provide significant value.
  • • You will be responsible for designing and delivering compelling, tailored product demonstrations. These demos will go beyond generic presentations; they will showcase how K4B's specific capabilities directly address the prospect's stated needs, including policy controls, travel restrictions, traveler experience enhancements, and integration requirements.
  • • Translating complex customer requirements into clear, actionable product and technical specifications will be a key responsibility. You will act as the bridge between the customer and our internal Product and Engineering teams, ensuring that customer needs are accurately understood and translated into product requirements.
  • • Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with Product Managers to validate new use cases, identify any functional gaps in K4B, and contribute to shaping the product roadmap by providing valuable customer-centric insights and prioritizing feature requests.
  • • You will partner with the Engineering team to assess the technical feasibility of proposed solutions, estimate development effort, discuss technical tradeoffs, and define optimal implementation approaches. This ensures that the solutions we propose are both innovative and technically sound.
  • • Post-sale, you will play a crucial role in supporting pilot programs and technical evaluations. This phase is critical for ensuring customer satisfaction and confirming that K4B meets expectations before full onboarding begins.
  • • You will meticulously own the scope handoff to the Implementation team. This involves creating detailed documentation that outlines the solution context, specific requirements, and agreed-upon success criteria, ensuring a seamless transition and successful customer onboarding.
  • • Participating in internal handoff meetings with the Implementation team is essential. These meetings ensure alignment on scope, timelines, potential risks, and overall project strategy before customer onboarding commences.
  • • You will contribute to defining the implementation paths, developing onboarding plans, and establishing clear success criteria prior to a deal being closed, setting the stage for a successful customer journey.
  • • You will be a vocal advocate for customer needs within internal discussions, ensuring that the customer's perspective is considered in product development, sales strategy, and operational planning.
  • • Continuous improvement is encouraged. You will contribute to enhancing our demo environments, refining pre-sales documentation, and developing better tooling to support the pre-sales process, making the entire team more effective.
  • • This role requires a strong understanding of web technologies, including APIs, various integration methods, authentication protocols, and data flow principles. You should be comfortable discussing system architecture at a high level and explaining technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • • You will be expected to work from our Cambridge, MA office at least 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and team synergy.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, or a similar pre-sales technical role, specifically supporting B2B or SaaS products.
  • • Demonstrated experience within the corporate travel, expense management, or travel management platform (TMP) industry.
  • • Proven ability to rapidly learn new products and confidently articulate their value and technical capabilities to diverse audiences.
  • • Strong track record of delivering effective product demonstrations to business, technical, and executive-level stakeholders.
  • • Proficiency in conducting consultative discovery sessions and mapping complex business needs to specific product solutions.
  • • Solid understanding of core web technologies, including APIs, integrations, authentication mechanisms, and data flow concepts.
  • • Comfort in discussing system behavior and architecture at a high level, with the ability to explain technical details clearly.
  • • Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Sales, and Engineering.
  • • Experience supporting enterprise-level customers and navigating complex sales cycles.
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • • A proactive, collaborative, problem-solving, and analytical mindset.
  • • Nice to have: Familiarity with policy enforcement, reporting functionalities, or complex enterprise workflows within travel or related systems.
  • • Nice to have: Experience with integrations into HRIS, Single Sign-On (SSO), or expense management systems.
  • • Nice to have: Basic ability to read or write code (e.g., Java, JavaScript, SQL) to better understand technical underpinnings.
