- • Coordinate and perform professional billing activities in Epic, including notify, consent, and good faith estimates in compliance with the No Surprise Billing Act (NSBA).
- • Utilize Epic Work Queues (WQs), reports, and modules to identify and verify non-contracted coverage, uninsured status, and self-pay services for scheduled appointments in specific clinical settings.
- • Complete the good faith estimate process in Epic for scheduled self-pay patients, uninsured individuals, and those with non-contracted insurance plans.
- • Communicate directly with patients to process pre-service payments prior to scheduled appointments.
- • Collaborate with divisional, clinical, and scheduling teams to manage the Epic referral triage process and ensure accurate patient eligibility verification.
- • Engage with pre-arrival, pre-certification, and WUPN staff to secure out-of-network authorizations and single case agreements for patients with non-contracted plans.
- • Cancel scheduled services when out-of-network authorizations or single case agreements cannot be obtained.
- • Serve as the primary liaison between the Department of Medicine, clinical staff, physicians, department administrators, patients, and affiliated hospital systems to coordinate billing-related documentation including notify, consent, signatures, estimate delivery, OON authorizations, and single case agreements.
- • Routinely interact with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate billing compliance and patient communication.
- • Perform other duties as assigned to support the business office’s billing and collection objectives.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5 years of experience in billing or insurance
- • Proficiency in using Epic EHR system, including Work Queues, reports, and billing modules
- • Ability to handle confidential patient data in compliance with HIPAA and institutional policies
- • Strong communication skills for direct patient interaction and cross-departmental coordination
