Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • Be the go-to HR partner for more than 150 Canadian Dollar Tree locations as you own the day-to-day administration of Workday—our single source of truth for employee data—ensuring new hires, transfers, and terminations are processed with 100 % accuracy and within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Own the end-to-end life-cycle of HR reporting: design ad-hoc and scheduled dashboards for store operations, finance, and loss-prevention teams; translate raw data into actionable insights that reduce turnover by identifying flight-risk patterns and improve scheduling efficiency across peak seasons.
  • Act as the first point of contact for associate relations, triaging sensitive inquiries via phone, email, and the internal ticketing system; conduct preliminary fact-finding interviews, maintain confidential documentation, and partner with the HR Manager to resolve issues in alignment with provincial employment standards and Dollar Tree policy.
  • Champion a culture of safety by coordinating accident reporting for all Canadian stores: log incidents in the OSHA-aligned system, liaise with third-party claims administrators, and compile monthly analytics that inform store-level safety training and reduce incident frequency year-over-year.
  • Serve as the benefits concierge for 2,000+ part-time and full-time associates—explaining coverage options during open enrollment, troubleshooting Workday benefit elections, and creating plain-language communication pieces that lift enrollment rates and employee satisfaction scores.
  • Draft, proof, and issue official Letters of Employment, ROE’s, and verification letters within service-level agreements, ensuring compliance with CRA, ESA, and privacy legislation while maintaining the warm, human tone that reflects Dollar Tree’s brand.
  • Handle a high-volume, multi-line phone system with professionalism and empathy—answering questions ranging from pay-period dates to policy clarifications—and redirect complex queries to the right subject-matter expert to guarantee first-call resolution above 90 %.
  • Partner with Payroll and Finance during month-end to audit timekeeping data, reconcile PTO balances, and certify that hourly and salied adjustments are processed accurately, preventing costly retroactive corrections.
  • Continuously improve HR processes by documenting standard operating procedures, leading lunch-and-learn sessions for store managers, and piloting automation opportunities that save an estimated 5–7 administrative hours per week.
  • Contribute to special projects such as the rollout of a new performance-management module, the national engagement survey, or the annual compensation review—bringing fresh ideas, meticulous attention to detail, and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude that inspires cross-functional teammates.
  • Represent Dollar Tree’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by ensuring all communications and processes are barrier-free; proactively flag accessibility needs and recommend accommodations that allow every associate to thrive.

🎯 Requirements

  • 1–2 years of hands-on HR coordination or specialist experience in a multi-unit retail, distribution, or high-volume corporate environment
  • Proven proficiency with Workday HCM (Core HR, Benefits, Reporting) or a comparable HRIS; advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, v-lookups, and data visualization
  • Working toward or willingness to pursue CHRP/CHRL designation; working knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act and federal labour regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities without sacrificing accuracy or customer service; exceptional written and verbal communication in English

🏖️ Benefits

  • Hybrid work model—three days in our modern Mississauga support center, two days remote—giving you flexibility and work-life balance
  • Comprehensive group health, dental, vision, and life-insurance coverage effective from day one of employment
  • Clear career-growth pathways: past specialists have advanced to HR Business Partner, Payroll Manager, and Regional HR roles within 18–36 months
  • Employee discount at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores across North America, plus access to a robust wellness program and annual volunteer days
