📋 Description

• As a Specialist Solutions Engineer (AI Focus) at Kong Inc., you will serve as a senior technical authority guiding enterprise customers through complex AI and API integration decisions, directly impacting how organizations adopt and scale intelligent systems in the agentic era.
• Your role bridges cutting-edge AI innovation with real-world infrastructure, enabling Kong’s customers to securely manage, govern, and monetize AI workloads across hybrid environments while shaping product evolution through field insights.
• Day to day, you will engage with C-suite executives and senior AI stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into tailored Kong Konnect architecture recommendations, ensuring alignment between technical capabilities and strategic goals.
• You will lead technical discovery sessions and architecture reviews, designing proof-of-concepts that demonstrate AI orchestration, agentic workflows, and API governance in action, using Kong’s platform to solve real customer challenges.
• You will stay current on emerging AI trends — including agentic AI, LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI safety frameworks — and synthesize this knowledge into actionable guidance for customers and internal teams.
• You will mentor junior Solutions Engineers, contribute to internal knowledge repositories, and help build reusable demo environments, scripts, and collateral that accelerate team-wide effectiveness.
• You will produce high-impact technical content such as white papers, webinars, and conference presentations that position Kong as a thought leader in AI infrastructure and API-driven intelligence.
• You will collaborate closely with product management and engineering teams, feeding frontline customer feedback into product roadmaps to ensure Kong’s platform evolves with market needs.
• You will manage multiple concurrent customer engagements with disciplined project execution, ensuring timely delivery of POCs, workshops, and technical validations against agreed-upon milestones.
• You will maintain and evolve demonstration tooling and sandbox environments that replicate enterprise-grade AI/API stacks, enabling consistent, reproducible customer experiences.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in solutions engineering, technical architecture, or a comparable customer-facing technical role, with proven success in enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in API design, API management, and lifecycle governance, including deep understanding of REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and async patterns.
• Hands-on experience with AIOps platforms, AI orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex), agentic AI systems, and ML model serving infrastructure.
• Strong command of identity and access management standards (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWT) and cybersecurity best practices in cloud and hybrid environments.
• Proficiency with Linux, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible), and Git-based DevOps workflows.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with ability to convey complex technical concepts to both engineers and C-level executives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent demonstrated experience through professional accomplishments.
