• • As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in owning and evolving the core systems that power our rapidly growing, nine-figure ARR healthcare platform. This role offers exceptional leverage within a high-talent-density engineering team, where your contributions will directly impact hundreds of thousands of patients.
• • You will be instrumental in architecting and building our healthcare commerce infrastructure, focusing on a sophisticated subscription and billing system. This involves tackling complex real-world scenarios such as mid-cycle medication switches, dynamic pricing across multiple pharmacy partners, effective payment recovery strategies, and accurate prorated billing.
• • A significant part of your responsibility will be to build and maintain robust clinical state machines. This includes developing highly reliable pipelines for managing complex medication ordering and fulfillment processes, ensuring seamless integration with compounding pharmacies, adhering to strict controlled substance compliance, and supporting personalized dosing protocols across a distributed network of external partners.
• • You will take hands-on ownership of the underlying infrastructure, leveraging AWS and Kubernetes. This entails establishing efficient CI/CD pipelines, implementing comprehensive observability solutions, and creating deployment patterns that enable the entire team to ship code rapidly and safely.
• • Acting as a crucial Product Partner, you will collaborate closely with Clinical, Operations, and Product teams. Your role will involve evaluating proposed workflows, taking ownership of business outcomes, and proactively identifying opportunities to maximize patient value through highly efficient and effective implementation.
• • Mochi Health is an AI-first engineering organization. You will not only utilize frontier agentic models to accelerate your own development but also design the backend architecture that empowers AI-assisted agents. These agents will automate clinical operations, enhance patient safety, and scale our provider workflows, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in healthcare technology.
• • You will be a key driver in raising the overall engineering bar. This includes owning critical architectural decisions, systematically upgrading legacy systems to modern standards, and elevating the skills of your fellow engineers through rigorous code reviews, promoting best practices in testing, and establishing high technical standards across the team.
• • The role requires a deep understanding of data modeling, focusing on schema design, state transitions, and domain boundaries to ensure the foundational model is robust and scalable. You will be responsible for the end-to-end ownership of your systems, from schema design and business logic implementation to deployment on Kubernetes and ensuring production observability.
• • You will work with a modern tech stack including TypeScript, Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS. While experience with these technologies is a plus, the emphasis is on strong engineering fundamentals, experience with distributed systems, and sound domain reasoning.
• • This is an onsite role in San Francisco, CA, requiring 5 days a week in the office to foster collaboration and innovation within the team. The position offers a competitive salary range of $230,000 - $280,000, with potential for Staff leveling at $280,000 - $330,000, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.
