• • As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing sophisticated backend solutions. Your primary focus will be on creating scalable, reliable, and efficient systems that facilitate seamless data exchange and workflow automation. This role demands a deep understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and robust error handling to ensure the integrity and performance of our platform.

This system requires advanced error management, asynchronous workflow orchestration, and sophisticated operational automation to ensure data consistency and reliability between our platform and external partners. You will lay the groundwork for how FutureFit AI approaches integration reliability and operational excellence across the entire platform.

• • **First 30 Days: Learn and Integrate**
• • Forge strong relationships with engineering, customer success, and support teams who rely on our integration systems.
• • Conduct an in-depth analysis of our most complex integration, understanding the bidirectional sync architecture, data models, asynchronous workflows, and common error patterns.
• • Become proficient with our debugging and monitoring tools, including MongoDB queries for async job tracking, CloudWatch Logs Insights for distributed tracing, and SQL queries for data validation.
• • Successfully ship your first small fixes or improvements, such as resolving straightforward integration bugs or enhancing observability within a specific workflow.
• • **Days 31-60: Own and Execute**
• • Take full ownership of your first major automation initiative, aiming to eliminate a significant category of manual support work.
• • Design, build, and deploy backend services and AWS Lambda functions to automate and streamline the integration pipeline.
• • Implement comprehensive observability for your automation, including structured logging, key metrics, and proactive alerting to identify and address issues before they impact users.
• • Collaborate with the support team to validate the effectiveness of your automation and identify the next highest-impact opportunity for improvement.
• • Develop detailed runbooks and internal tools that empower non-technical team members to independently diagnose and resolve common integration issues.
• • Engage with external partners (vendor systems) to manage any necessary API changes or coordinate deployments for your automation initiatives.
• • Begin identifying reusable patterns and infrastructure components that can be leveraged across other integrations and platform systems.
• • **Days 61-90: Lead and Amplify**
• • Quantify and communicate the impact of your automation efforts, focusing on metrics such as reduction in support tickets, decrease in manual intervention time, and improvements in data consistency or error rates.
• • Actively participate in architectural discussions and strategic planning for other platform initiatives, contributing your expertise in reliability patterns, asynchronous workflows, and operational excellence.
• • Mentor other engineers on the patterns, infrastructure, and best practices you have established, becoming a subject matter expert for integration reliability.
• • Present a technical deep-dive to the broader engineering team, sharing your learnings and the solutions you have built.
• • You will be working with a modern tech stack, including TypeScript, Node.js, and a suite of AWS services such as Lambda, EventBridge, and SQS. Experience with GraphQL API design, MongoDB or DynamoDB for state management, and SQL data warehousing for validation are highly valuable. We also value experience with government APIs, legacy enterprise systems, and event-driven architectures at scale. Your ability to debug complex distributed systems using observability tools like CloudWatch Logs Insights or New Relic is crucial.
